For business travelers, I would not recommend this hotel. Every room has such poor internet connection that you will have to sit with your back to the door of your hotel room. For pleasure, it's fine. It is a very nice hotel, friendly staff, good location in the west end of Glasgow.

I stayed here for a week and was disappointed once I left the main floor. My first room was very noisy, seemingly sleeping right on Great Western Rd. after arriving at the hotel @ 2:30 AM. The hair dryer worked in 30 second intervals making it difficult to get dressed for an early morning appointment after little sleep The staff kindly moved me to a room across the hall while I was at work. That room was a little less noisy except when deliveries arrived at the grocery store within a few feet of the hotel. The second room however had a horrible smell that was a cross between that of a locker room inside a dumpster. I had asked for an upgrade (all full, although the foot traffic didn't seem to support that statement), and with the deteriorating room conditions, gave up asking for another room afraid that I would end up in the basement. Positives were the meals- very good, and bar with good service,

Room Tip: Specify a room not facing Great Western Rd. If you get a "tired" room, nearby shops sell g...

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel and can't fault it. We had a deluxe room which was lovely. The girl who checked us in with an early room to get to a graduation was lovely and very helpful as were all the other staff we came in contact with. We didn't eat in the restaurant but breakfast was good with everything you need and usually get at a good quality buffet breakfast. In a great area with the Botanic gardens over the road and absolutely spoilt for choice with coffee shops, bars, restaurants in this area.

Everyone on the staff were happy and helpful in dealing with all our requests. The staff were friendly and interested in our trip purpose and stay at the hotel. They were always polite and considerate of our needs.

Apart from street noise - windows are not double glazed - we found staff, catering, breakfast very enjoyable. Great location for west end prowling, vintage clothes, great bookshops, fab pubs all a short walk. The Botanic Gardens offer a quiet haven right next door. Byres Road Saturday night crowds can be somewhat merry, best to ask for a room at opposit end!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms at the Byres Road end of the building, road traffic and late night pub crowds!

Was a little confused to where the entrance was, we parked in the terrace which is at the back of the hotel thinking it was the front. It was the entrance for the function suite, lovely cleaning lady pointed us in the right direction for the reception. Staff were excellent especially Sidney at the concierge, easy check out no delays.
Bar food was good and not pricey like some hotels, again bar staff were excellent and very pleasant.
Room was small but bed was fantastic, had a little siesta in the afternoon and slept like a baby at night.
Lots of little shops to explore down Byres Road and Great Western Road, doesn't cost a lot to get into the city in a taxi and the service was quick.
No air conditioning so we opened a window, did get a little too warm for my wife during the night and we got the traffic noise in the morning.

Room Tip: If going by car and you travel up Byres Road the main entrance is on the left just as you come up to...

We stayed one week in May 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lovely, spacious rooms, excellent breakfast and dinners, close to busses and underground, wonderful neighbourhood for exploring on foot.
