Just returned from a two night stay at the Hotel. We've stayed here several times before and, as usual, our stay was very pleasant from start to finish. The staff are very helpful and can't do enough for you. Nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely return in the future.

Stayed here one night on an overnight trip to Glasgow. We knew it was a little way out of the centre but it's a good 15 minute walk up to Buchanan Street - ok if the weather is good but it wasn't for us unfortunately!

The hotel was fine and breakfast good. Our room was large but cold when we checked in and too hot overnight - difficult to get ahappy medium with heating/air con control. I found the bed slightly hard and with the heat as well didn't get a good night's sleep. Staff very good apart from when we tried to get a drink at the bar - the bar person appeared to be cashing up the till and kept us waiting until he'd finished counting out all the money. Not something I personally would do while I had customers waiting - he eventually picked the phone up and asked someone to come round and serve us. We only wanted a drink each and this took over 10 minutes to achieve. Didn't use the spa facilities as no time, nor the restaurant other than for breakfast.

For the price we paid it was ok but could do with an update.

Could not fault a thing at Menzies, Glasgow. I will be the first to say that I was a complete nightmare with my requests (I was there on business and had arranged to meet clients at the hotel, which required lots of help from the staff.) but absolutely nothing was a problem for them. Both the reception staff and the supervisor on the bar were brilliant. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. Will return if I have to be in Glasgow again soon.

Our second stay at this hotel was as enjoyable as the first. Staff helpful and friendly. Good sized rooms and nicely furnished, excellent leisure club. Lovely breakfast in the morning and hot too, which isn't always the case! Avoid 9.30am for breakfast, it's really busy, get down there a bit earlier. Don't know where you would find better for £65 BB. Great night out in Glasgow too.

We were very pleased with the Menzies. Throughout the staff were helpful and attentive, particularly in the restaurant. Check-in was quick yet the member of staff on duty still found time to chat with us. The rooms are clean and the state of decoration was pretty good. We booked an upgraded room and we were not disappointed. We were on the fifth floor with lovely views across the Clyde. We used the leisure facilities extensively. These are free to hotel guest. The gym is well equipped with rowers, bikes and some weights. All the pieces we used were in a good state of repair. We also took advantage of the pool. it is a reasonable size and set nicely with large windows looking towards the river. I found the changing rooms a little cramped as there were more than half a dozen people in there at the same time (you will need a refundable pound coin for a locker). The water in the pool was warm and at the time we used it, it was not crowded. One lane was roped off for those who want to swim lengths. There is also a steam room, jet pool and a sauna. All worked well. After a couple of hours in the Gym and pool, we felt nicely relaxed and were ready for dinner. Dinner was fine rather than outstanding. The staff were fantastic and the wine list was not over-expensive. We chose hake and belly pork as mains and enjoyed them. Portion sizes were 'British'and might seem small to US visitors. I was a little disappointed with the cheeseboard. It was relatively expensive and fairly sparse. I always hope for local cheeses when I travel. Breakfast was the usual buffet-style arrangement, with very helpful staff providing tea and taking orders for specials, such as kippers. We were on holiday so we felt a little rushed as breakfast finishes at 9.30 am on weekdays. This meant that we did not have time for a morning swim. We guessed the hotel is geared up for business guests during the week.

Overall, we were very happy and would definitely come back. For me, this would get a perfect score with two small improvements - the restaurant lifting its game to compete with the best in Glasgow and if the the breakfast times were extended to 10 or preferably 10.30 am during the week, to better cater for leisure visitors. Definitely recommend. Being on the west side of the city, we found we could not only quickly get into the centre into the centre, but we could also walk to the Kelvin Grove Museum and the new Transport museum, both of which are about 20-30 mins away.

Room Tip: We thought it was well worth upgrading to a small suite. The rooms were very large, with a sofa and...

Stayed here last Sunday night on their Retail Therapy Package at £99 for myself and my wife this was inclusive of a 3 course dinner and breakfast. We arrived mid afternoon and the reception staff were very welcoming and we were efficiently and pleasantly advised of our room, which proved to be large and spotlessly clean. 2 very comfortable chairs and TV, fridge and all the usual tea making facilities.
The bar/lounge area was comfortable and afternoon tea sandwiches etc were very reasonable.
The bonus to the whole deal was the evening meal, this was 3 course with a more than adequate selection and the breakfast which was buffet style which catered for every taste from cereal and fruit to full scottish breakfast or kippers.
I didn't use the pool, but it certainly looked attractive
The only downside is the location as it is in the old warehouse district and certainly from the lower floors there is restricted views, but this a small price to pay for the excellent service and it's general comfort .
