would not serve a sober man a drink then had the cheek to say i was drunk but the meal was good . The rooms are nice the only problem was the licencee at the bar . The drink is really expensive so maybe will be better having a drink in the city.Bound to be better bar staff.

Dear Mr Wi....

Thank you for placing your review on the site, I am sorry that you have decided to use this forum following your refusal to be served alcohol within the restaurant.

As part of our duty of care and our due diligence in relation licensing laws of Scotland we could not serve this individual and that was advised at the time – this would have been the same for any licensed establishment in the city.

I was pleased to read that you enjoyed the meal.

Yours sincerely

Philip

first impressions outside needs a good lick of paint .The parking is poor and needs sorting out because the car park is usually full and you struggle to find a space . If you have to park at the back of the car park and it has been raining your shoes will get covered in mud when getting in and out of your car. The rooms are clean and tidy if in need of redecorating .The food was good but breakfast can get very busy and you can wait a while to get into the dining room and get served. The staff are excellent and really helpful .It was value for money but with a spruce up the experience would be better

Both working in Glasgow on a Monday, my wife and I decided to drive up on Sunday and stay overnight at a hotel near the city centre so that we could have a leisurely evening and start to the following morning. Never stayed here before, but the reviews were generally quite good.

We decided to book room only as the breakfast, advertised at £16.95 seemed a bit pricey! The hotel is really easy to find - just minutes off the M8, so stress free and secure parking across the road.

The hotel reception is rather nice, and the staff were excellent. First question was "would you like to add breakfast at £7.50 each?" - the answer was "yes"! First tip - book room only and add breakfast when you get there!

The hotel is spotlessly clean, and the room we had on the second floor was huge, with an enormous bed, two armchairs and a sette - and a rather nice bathroom and a decent flat screen TV. On first glance, everything looks great, but closer inspection shows that some of the decor and fixtures are a bit tired - however, overall the hotel is great.

We decided to have a wander into the city - and this is where the hotel comes into its own. The hotel backs onto Argyle Street and is approx 5 mins walk to Central Station. Another few minutes wal brings you to Buchanan Street, which is full of restaurants, bars and more shops and arcades than you could possibly want.

We had dinner out (very expensive to eat out in Glasgow!), an early night, a good nights sleep and a lovely breakfast the next morning - the restaurant is quite nice and the dinner menu looked quite good as well (and reasonably priced).

Would definitely stay here again.

Only paid £143 for 2 nights with dinner on first night so wasnt expecting too much, just needed a base to explore Glasgow. Efficient check in and found reception staff very helpful throughout the whole visit with all enquiries. Smelly corridor on floor 6 no idea why and room smelt musty when we first went in - 5 mins with window open and all was fine. Carpet quite dirty but rest of room clean and all bedding and towels clean. Wasnt expecting much for dinner but was pleasantly surprised, food was excellent and lots of choice - our server Jason introduced himself then got in a flap when we asked what the soup of the day was - apparently the lady at the door should have told us! He wasnt helpful or friendly and needs to learn how to smile and welcome guests - he did have very shiny shoes though !! Fortunately after the first course we were served by a very friendly blonde haired lady didnt get her name but she was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall a lovely meal with a nice bottle of house white which was reasonably priced. Would like to say breakfast was the same however it wasnt, we didnt have to queue to get in but had to queue for food - for ages, when we got it it was lukewarm and a bit rubbish - we didnt go back on Sunday morning as it wasnt worth the wait. Would recommend for cheap break - we dont spend much time in hotel when we are away just need somewhere to sleep and bed was very big and comfortable. Free wifi too.

We were booked in for a two night deal with dinner. The hotel is clean and the staff were very polite. We were disappointed with the few items you come to expect with hotels of similar rating. First, we were surprised that although it was advertised as having room safes, it was in fact only certain rooms. Ours was not one of them. We were offered another room, but it was on a lower floor with the risk of being far noisier. There were other issues, such as limited food vegetarian food options and no Maid service until we had to wait in reception until the management arranged an emergency clean. All in all, the hotel is pitched at a reasonable rate, but with so much local competition, they should be planning to raise their game a little ann provide the service most people would expect.

We have just had an excellent overnight stay here... Booked two rooms, for 4 adults & 2 young children. Really cannot fault the place. Everyone was so helpful - nothing was too much trouble, the rooms were fantastic (no complaints about the decor either!), the pool, sauna & steam room were a fabulous wee treat and Breakfast & Dinner were delicious & fresh too... All in all it was exactly what we were after, in a perfect location... Our girls were even given colouring books and a bucket full of pens/crayons to keep them entertained. Many thanks to Brian who helped at every opportunity - and always with a smile!

Stayed at the Menzies hotel Glasgow , March 2014, it is a bit worn and is in need of some maintenance and decorating but it was clean and the staff were all lovely and attentive. Ideal location for exploring Glasgow. Had an evening meal which was quite good, breakfast was very good. The leisure facilities were very good. Bar prices were high, but this is normal for hotels. We would stay again.
