“Great stay”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

A group of friends stayed at this lovely hotel. The refurbished rooms are a great size. They all have lovely high ceilings. We all had a great time. Very central for pubs and shops. Friendly staff. Bar stayed open late. Great breakfast.

Have stayed here a few times, always pleased with room and facilities. Excellent breakfast, very well organised even when busy. Staff very helpful. Good location for shopping and SSCC. Would recommend.

This hotel is 5 mins walk from Glasgow Central rail Station, which is so convenient
Approx. 10 mins to town centre which has many good eating & drinking establishments
also good for shopping, walks along the riverside.

Okay budget hotel-centrally located, just a stones throw from Glasgow central and 30 minutes walk from the Hydro.
Reception area quite small, receptionist very curt and unhelpful.
One small lift for entire hotel.
Room was clean and tidy but smelled of bad drains.
As it's centrally located, expect a bit of traffic noise etc.
Breakfast was okay, but a bizarre mix of English food with Indian spices thrown into the mix.
If you want a budget hotel that is centrally located, this is the one for you, but don't bother if you are expecting a bit of luxury!

I was very apprehensive about staying here but need not have been. The reviews were putting me off. I had a room on the fourth floor along the front of the hotel. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. Yes, there is street noise as the building is old and has original sash windows. The noise did not keep me awake. The bed was fine, the pillows pretty hard but I slept fine. There were no hand towels, just bath towels. Breakfast was average, tasteless really, its done on the cheap. But it was warm. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is super central and very convenient.

The public areas of the hotel are run down. Worn and dirty carpets on the stairs etc. It needs to be refurbished. That is the only let down. Oh, and the slowest lift in the world, only one for five floors and 125 rooms. Still, it kept me fit on the stairs!

All in all, for the price I paid, it is worth four stars. I had a very comfortable stay and would stay again.

Reception was unfriendly and not interested in providing a service. She was more interested in her mobile phone which she was on every time I went through reception.i would not recommend this place based on the unfriendly manner of both the reception staff.
