Place is tiny, cute, and smells great. Beautiful selection of baked goods, but also soup, sandwiches, salads.

Had to attend the Dental Hospital recently and arranged to meet up with a friend who lives in Glasgow in the Vanilla Black Coffee Shop on Sauchiehall Street about 5 minutes stroll from the Dental Hospital next to the McLellan Galleries.

Very clean quirky café with different type seating, high and low, also a good varied coffee shop menu of paninis, toasties, soup, sandwiches and also wonderful fresh home baking.
We had a pot of tea and brown bread toasted sandwiches at a very reasonable cost. You have to order and pay at the counter before sitting down and I understand that this coffee shop is privately owned and was very busy at lunch time.
Would have no hesitation in visiting again when I am next attending the dental hospital.

Great little cafe that offers great pastries. The coffee is decent but the fact that the pastries are made in house and not purchased from costcos like most other places makes this the best coffee shop on Sauchiehall street.

I've been in here many times for both a proper lunch and just for a cake and tea. The food (not including cakes) is of average quality, with the presentation being pretty basic but tasting good enough. I've had toasties / paninis here, they were ok but nothing to shout about.
This place is best for relaxing with a nice pot of tea and a lovely cake.... of which there is plenty of choice. All the cakes look good and the ones I've tried have been very tasty.
There is a nice atmosphere in here and its main down side is that it's quite small and so can be quite difficult to get a seat.
It's comparable in terms of value for money with other coffee shops but think this one wins on atmosphere.

Having been tempted by the sumptuous array of home baking in the window for a couple of months, today I finally succumbed to a meringue and a pot of tea, Vanilla Black style. My first obstacle to a relaxing hedonistic lunch was finding out that they only take cash, cue a mad dash across rainy Sauchiehall St to an atm, though it must be said that the cashier did save my seat for me and tge staff as a whole were generallt attentive. Returning, a tad windswept and thirsty, I was soon 'rewarded' with a pretty china pot of tea and a large home-made meringue. Tea however was pitifully weak, 1 teabag for a pot?! And, horror of horrors my £2.90 meringue was served with aerosol cream - meringues have a terrific mark-up as they are essentially just eggs and sugar, had I had another teabag and whipped cream I could have put the unwiped cramped tables down to a busy lunch rush. Sadly,I felt overcharged and underwhelmed and would recommend the nearby Willow Tearoom for those fellow cake & tea lovers seeking sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Will not be returning to Vanilla Blacks.
