“Another great stay!”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

Always try to book this hotel while in glasgow. Staff very helpful and friendly acknowledged we had stayed there before which was nice. We ate in Collage restaurant on a 5pm deal and was excellent value and food was good. Room are spacious and clean. The only complaint I have is you can't open the windows and room gets stuffy during the night. There is air conditioning but we are not keen in having it running all night. We look forward to our next return in November.

This is always the first hotel I try to book when I'm in Glasgow on business or for pleasure. The bedrooms are perfectly appointed, quiet and very well maintained and the staff will always go out of their way to help. The gym and pool are within the same building and there is a shoe polishing machine on every floor (perfect for the lazy traveler like myself). All I look for on business travel is a good nights sleep in a comfy bed, a nice hot shower and a great breakfast. The Glasgow Radisson delivers 10 out of 10 in all regards.

Part of the chain and has all the features you would expect from Radisson. Obviously recently refitted, the different room lay out adds to charm, as do the ultra friendly staff. Didn't eat or drink there, but the location is so central there is a brilliant choice of venues outside. Book early for good rates. For once didn't upgrade to Club room- not sure it represented much value or advantage.

Room Tip: No real views from any room.

Large building, great location close to central station. Staff were very friendly and informative. The hotel is clearly proud of its location which is obvious in the decoration. Breakfast had a great variation. We had a club room looing into central station and the Arches nightclub, pressure was on at the Arches which meant we got some noise but didn't bother us at all,

The hotel is a 45 second walk from the station. It's clean, well appointed, quiet in the rooms and comfortable. Good sized TVs that work properly and Olympic sized beds. All that is by the by though; there is a pile of smoked salmon on the breakfast buffet and I would sleep in a single bunk for that! One of the best hotels in glasgow.

I had booked this hotel several months ago for The Commonwealth Games based on its location and availability. Nearer the time I sent an email to confirm the booking and to request a twin room ( as I was with my Mum) and a high floor. The request was acknowledged.
Unfortunately when we arrived we were booked into a double!!...
Not a great start to the stay, but we were then given a twin but on a lower floor.

The rooms are a little strange - we had net curtains in front of the actual curtains, no hooks anywhere for jackets, hardly any space to put your clothes, bath sheets so thick and heavy that we ended up using the hand towels! The hairdryer is really annoying as you have to push a button constantly for it to work, it took us 10 minutes to work out how to switch the bedside light off and the pillows were incredibly hard but there are nice toiletries, free Wi-Fi, slippers and robes.

As we finally got to bed we both realised that we couldn't possibly sleep on the pillows as they were so uncomfortable so we called for some feather pillows. What we then discovered was that there were known available, which for a 5 star hotel is quite something! We had no choice but to give up and try to sleep but neither of us could, we were also completely on top of each other as there is no gap between the beds. At 5am there was a huge noise of stacking chairs and pulling chairs across the floor very close to us. This lasted nearly 30 minutes.

Later that morning we spoke to Jonny, a very attentive and helpful member of staff, who arranged to have us moved to a quieter and higher room complete with feather pillows. We were also given complimentary breakfast. We packed and spent a tired day at The Games.

We got back late, went to our new room where there were dirty teaspoons and robes and no feather pillows!....Obviously by then we were really not impressed!! Robert, the night concierge, was unbelievably kind and attentive - he remembered us from the night before. He searched the entire hotel for pillows, finding a couple that were better but just one feather. He then arranged for us to have a drink from the bar and explained what steps he was going to take to resolve the issues. By this time it was 2am and we had an event in Edinburgh the following morning. At 2.30am the manager, Chris I think, came to our room and listened to our concerns, again very apologetic and genuinely concerned.

After 2 nights of little to no sleep we weren't enjoying The Games as we had hoped and missed one event completely. However, when we returned late again from Hampden there was a bottle of champagne, a fruit platter, a hand written note and a whole stack of feather pillows!!....A really lovely surprise.

The remainder of our stay was perfect. We had our bill reduced and complimentary breakfast the entire stay. Jonny and Robert were absolutely amazing throughout and we really appreciate the management taking the steps they did. I think the main problem is lack of communication of which I hope they can improve on as the location and staff cannot be faulted.

The reason that I wanted to write this review is to point out that there are issues, as previous reviews have stated BUT they do get fixed and taken seriously.

Room Tip: Request a high floor, but the 5th floor have hard mattresses and away from the lifts.
