“Pleasant But With Odd Noises”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2009

I stayed at the Radisson for three nights whilst working in Glasgow. Located very close to Central Station the location is ideal for getting around central Glasgow although the immediate environs are not the most appealing. The hotel looks swish and modern and the entrance is very pleasant.

Check in was swift and friendly, despite my relatively early arrival the staff sought to find me a free room on a busy weekend. I was given a so called Modern Room on the 5th floor at the front of the building. The room layout was odd - a central desk unit took up a lot of space and made movement around the bed a tad tricky. The bathroom was nice with a walk in shower (no bath). There also didn't seem to be much wardrobe space - presumably if you are "modern" you don't need many clothes. Unfortunately despite being a non smoking floor my room reeked of cigarettes. So the staff quickly found me a room on the 6th floor in one of their City Rooms. The layout was a bit better, though the bed being angled jauntily to one side meant watching TV in bed wasn't the most comfortable experience. A lot more wardrobe space though and a bath with shower over it instead of a walk in.

The hotel has great wif-fi, which is free of charge (as it should be). Another good thing is that if breakfast is included in your room rate there is no extra charge for delivering it to your room (again the way it shoudl be) and it's jolly nice when it gets there too.

The only thing that troubled me was that there was a constant background hum (not the a/c and several colleagues metioned the same thing) from some kind of machinery and a reguar (every 15 seconds or so) sound akin to someone moving a heavy pice of furniture - the staff couldn't work out what it was and I was so tired I slept anyway but otherwise it would have driven me insane.

Overall, nice staff, comfortable rooms, decent location and quite good value.

We normally book into the crowne Plaze at the SECC on trips to Glasgow, however they were fgully booked and we opted to stay at the Radisson.

First impressions were good, prompt check in. Arrived at room, empty bottles at the door greeted us. When we arrived there was a personalised card welcoming us, only the name wasn't ours! The body lotion and bath crystals were used (hygene issue as don't know who's hands have been in there before) and hardly any toilet roll!

We got shifted to the floor above, room was the sam however there was no full size steam iron, and the trouser press in the wardrope when pulled out made a poor substitute.

Hotel was bad for street noise, being a lioght sleeper i couldt sleep for noice outside and we were on the 4th Floor!

Breakfast was a battle! We were put right beside the kitchens, and a number of near misses whilst carrying things were avoided because of staff racing out the door!

In all the room was clean, but i wouldn't stay there again! The cost of the room there are better hotels in glasgow we have stayed at!

Stayed at the Radisson for the second time, and I thoroughly recommend it.
Pleasant Staff, clean fresh rooms, lovely buffett breakfast and nice clean Pool and Gym facilites.
We had our daughter with us who is 16, which the Radisson allows for free. Overall, for our rom with breakfast for 3 included was very good value for money, in a 4 Star hotel.
I would certainly stay at the Radisson again.

I don't know why Trip Advisor say this Hotel comes under Paisley, as its outside Paisley , in the city of Glasgow. I wondered why the hotel was not classified in Trip Advisors Glasgow Top 10 hotels?

The Radisson is a great hotel
for business and pleasure in the centre of Glasgow. The rooms are extremely comfortable with modern interiors and hotel is modern and bright. The hotel has easy access to the city and I would recommend it to anyone staying in glasgow for meetings or a weekend. A comfortable stay

We booked this hotel based on the great reviews on this site. Check-in was very slow. It was 3pm, but they could have anticipated it would be busy at that time and opened an extra desk. We were then allocated a corner room on the top floor. However, this was one of the "orange" rooms. The room itself was tiny, and there was not not much space for the seating area. The "leopard print" throw at the bottom of the bed looked more like a beach towel that had been over-washed and the orange silk curtains looked like something from the 70's ( not in a good way). We therefore asked for another room and were shown to the only other available room in the hotel that night, which was on the 4th floor. The room we were shown to was much bigger than the last and thankfully, was decorated in more muted tones. It looked very much like a few of the better Premier Lodges I have stayed in, with very similar furniture. Fine, but it is a lot more expensive than a Premier Lodge.
On the plus side, there is a good coffee machine in each room, and fresh milk and it was well stocked with glasses/ mugs etc.
Breakfast the next morning was nice- plenty of choice, although the staff were all very young, and there didn't appear to be anyone co-ordinating them with the result that it all seemed a bit chaotic. On the plus side, the food itself was good. All in all, I wouldn't return.

I stayed here for nothing as part of a special Travel Agents offer so wasn't expecting much as it was free. We didn't check in until 8pm and noticed straight away there was a party going on in the ballroom, this was not an issue as we couldn't hear anything when we were in our room. About 9pm, however, the party got louder and my partner called down to the front desk to ask if they had earplugs and was advised they would move us. When the hotel staff arrived at our door to help us move she advised that we were being upgraded due to the inconvenience! Our new room looked out onto Argyle St but there was not an issue with noise. We ordered room service and had lovely filled pasta, chips and ice cream to share which came to about £18. About half an hour later we got a call from reception advising they had gone out to try and buy me earplugs but couldn't find any! This was not an issue as we couldn't hear anything from our new room. In the morning we got breakfast delivered to the room, mine was veggie (scrambled eggs made with cream, 2 quorn sausages, tomato, mushrooms and potato scone) and was delicious. I must add that the bathroom was great with heated floors, however the bath took a while to fill but we were in no rush anyway! The staff were so friendly and helpful, and as I have eaten in both restaraunts previously I can also recommend them. All in all another fantastic Radisson experience!

  • Liked — The staff
  • Disliked — The views, probably because I already live in Glasgow!

We had two rooms in the hotel. The rooms were very clean, the bathroom was well-designed, breakfast was fine, staff were helpful, and overall our stay was excellent. There was a shortage of hanging space for clothes in the rooms but that was the only drawback.

The hotel is located opposite Central railway station, which is handy if you come in to the city by that station, and is within easy walking distance of everything in the centre of Glasgow.
