“Surprise birthday treat - and a treat it was!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2010

I was taken here as a surpise for my birthday last year, and loved it! Our room was fantastic - really big with a cool pillar/desk area in the middle, a frosted glass wall seperating the room and the bathroom, and cool, classic decor throughout.

The hotel itself is in a good location, pretty much right next to Central Station. There's a bar attached to the hotel (can't remember the name) where we went at night, and the service there was great with a really friendly barman who helped us decide on drinks and chose us delicious cocktails.

Breakfast the next morning was really nice, with a good selection at the buffet. Although it was pretty busy when we went down and we were surrounded by a really noisy group of guys from London (although that's nothing to do with the hotel).

If I could afford it we'd stay here every time we visited Glasgow!

Booked a standard room 1 week in advance and requested bottle of chanpagne to be in the room prior to our arrival. Arrived in room to find the hotel had forgotten about the champagne. Room was clean and business-like, resembled something like a travel lodge (although nothing wrong with travel lodges but we thought we were paying for 5 star!). However, the tiny bathroom and bath were probably the worst we have seen in a long while. There was black mould around the very small bath which for any hotel is shocking, never mind an apparent '5 star' establishment.

On complaining about the champagne and bathroom, the reception staff member was apologetic and upgraded us to a suite which was very spacious with a nice bathroom. However, the room smelled of cigarette smoke, one of the two flat screen tv's didn't work, the large corner window was leaking water from the heavy rain outside and there were several kirby grips lying on the floor around the room! If we were paying for this suite, the standard we encountered would be TOTALLY unacceptable.

The staff were polite but not overly friendly and they didn't give us any info about the fitness suite when we checked in or ask us if we enjoyed our stay when we checked out!

On a plus note, the reception area looks impressive, the buffet breakfast was excellent and the hotel's location, although not in the best area, is convenient for the City.

If you want 5 star in Glasgow, don't stay here, go to the Hotel Du Vin instead which is superior in EVERY department.

Had a weekend break at this Hotel with Bed and Breakfast. All staff were friendly. Room was fine though there was no view but as we were not near the road we were not troubled by traffic noise. There was an indoor swimming pool,Sauna and well equipped gym. Could see rail station entrance from Hotel Foyer.Breakfast was OK. Used the bar at night was quite expensive but this is a 5 star Hotel! Only stayed two nights and enjoyed our time in Glasgow. Went on Red Bus sightseeing tour first dayand next day we hopped on and off at the sights we wanted to investigate further. Ticket allows two days of travel for £10 with reductions for seniors. There are lots of shops close by.

I stayed at the Radisson Blu Hotel on a business trip in early June 2010. This was an excellent hotel for a lone female. Rooms were well equipped and impeccably clean. Reception staff were well informed and helped me to find a local restaurant in which I could read my book! Hotel is well located, close to the centre of the city and next to the railway station, therefore excellent for a sightseeing trip. Lots of interesting things to see in Glasgow too, including lots of art at the various museums and the University. There is a health club attached to the hotel and guests can use this free of charge - the swimming pool was indoor, heated and fit for purpose. I enjoyed this trip.

This hotel is super central near the main station.
Easy walking distance to the main shopping streets.
Rooms are good sized and lack nothing.
Very good value for money.

We stayed here on our way back to Newcastle from Inverness and we walked passed the front of the building twice -we couldn't believe we were staying there. The building is all glass front with a stunning reception and friendly staff. The bedroom was even better with full length windows overlooking the city and train station. Very roomy with mood lighting behind a glass screen/headboard. The hotel also has a massive gym and pool with a sauna and jaccuzi. I managed to get one night there for about £56 so for that kind of luxury it was fantastic. Great location and stylish clean rooms. Would recommend in a second!

I spent 2 weeks traveling in Scotland and Ireland with my last stop being a conference in Glasgow. The conference was at the SEC. Compared to the other hotels close to the SEC conference center, this is the place to stay for the following reasons.

1. Aesthetically, it is spectacular hotel.
2. The rooms are wonderful - perfect size and amenities. There is in room coffee, hair dryer, free wifi, and great size bathroom.
3. The included breakfast was great (the best of the trip).
4. The staff gave us great recommendations for dinner. They were helpful and service oriented.

My only complain was the bed mattress was soft, but this was not that much of a draw back. I would highly recommend staying at the Radisson if you have a conference at the SEC. You are closer to shopping and the hotels by the SEC is rather sterile environment. Definitely not a pleasant place to walk.
