Stayed for 3 nights and did not expect much as it was cheep but it was a disappointing stay even by the low expectations we had. The hotel is tired and in need of a lick of paint. The TV was tiny, the mattress was very saggy, old and uncomfortable. The shower was a dribble, the shower curtain held up by a cable tie so it didn't open. The thing on the wall in the shower which promised shampoo, conditioner and shower gel was empty. Unable to accommodate a one hour early check in. The breakfast was limited and had to wait for eggs for 5 mins on 2 mornings. It says parking is available but the car park can hold about 12 cars and it is quite a large hotel so when we came back at 21:30 on the first night and the car park was full I told the receptionist and was simply told "subject to availability". This meant I had to park on the road, wake up at 6:30, and move the car into the one space that had luckily become available in the car park or I would have got a ticket on the road. The car park is a real problem but I would have been happy to put up with and would expect 2 or 3 of these problems for the price. However, this was a few too many. Location is good.

We last stayed at The Devoncove 2 years ago and chose it then because of its proximity to the Secc. We chose to go back because our first stay was fine and again because of location. 2 years ago the hotel was a "work in progress", it looks like nothing has been done since.

The first thing that annoyed me was they put an authorisation through my bank card 2 days before we arrived. I had since decided to pay with another card so they said they would cancel the original authorisation but it could take 10 days to come off my account. Handy if you have direct debits coming off eh! I asked why they did this and was told it acted as a reminder to guests of their booking, never heard of emails then???

Our room was a let down for several reasons - when I tried to run a bath the cold tap wouldn't turn off. Someone came up and explained you had to press heavily on the top of it to turn it off.. the second night when I had a bath the shower head dripped constantly and as it's at opposite ends to the taps, you couldn't lie back. Also, the fixed shower head was hanging off the wall and as much water came out the side as the front!

Our room safe was locked when we arrived which we reported. Someone came up with keys but none of them fitted so our only option was the hotel safe.

We had really heavy rain during the first night and the rhones just above our window was either blocked or broken which meant we had to listen to the constant drip all night.

The room itself was comfortable and adequate and acceptable had everything been otherwise ok.

Breakfast wasn't great, bacon undercooked and sausages awful. There were 3 toasters and only one worked properly.

The hotel itself just looked grubby, oh and the inside of the lift had obviously never had a clean!

Sorry Devoncove but we won't be back for a third stay!

Have stayed before but several years ago. Great location near Kelvinhall Park excellent for us as the hotel is dog friendly. Found it good value for money, clean friendly and helpful staff, does need a bit of TLC, but that seems to be on-going. Would stay there again on our next trip to Glasgow no problem

The hotel is showing signs of wear and tear and would benefit from a painting. Staff were friendly and polite. Room was clean but couldn't connect to wifi.
Very reasonably priced - you get what you pay for.

The Devoncove is an old hotel, and comes with the charm and idiosyncrasies that come with that. So it had twisty turny corridors, and an ancient elevator.
The staff were wonderful, and remained so even when my room key was playing up.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the sheets were cotton.
For the price I paid, this was more than reasonable. I would stay here again.

My wife and I have stayed here a number of times. We have always found the rooms clean and tidy. The hotel is undergoing some refurbishment at present but this does not intrude on your stay.Staff are friendly and the breakfast is first class to start the day. Handy location for all amenities , e.g Art Galleries and 5 minutes into Glasgow City Centre. Buses stop outside the hotel.
I would recommend the Devoncove if you are looking for somewhere near to the city centre

Excellent value for money. Room was a fine size although bathroom was enough for us. Staff were helpful, and the location is great for city centre also west end of Glasgow.Breakfast was good.
The parking can be better
