“Fabulous location across from Royal Glasgow Theatre”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2013

Though in an older building, the interior is modern with spotless, new bathrooms and nice decor. Staff at front desk was wonderfully accommodating, and we were extremely happy with our stay. We had an executive suite on the 4th floor - the alley facing rooms are quiet with virtually no traffic noise, though we did hear a few late patrons leaving the many local pubs. Excellent location to many restaurants, shopping and the Glasgow Hop-On Hop-Off sightseeing bus within walking distance. Definitely would stay again!

Room Tip: Executive suite has double and sofa-pullout, great for a family of 3.

Stayed here for one night only on business. Easily recommend this hotel, well situated for shops. eateries and entertainment - Cineworld across the road. The room on the first floor (121) overlooked West Nile Street, and while there was some traffic noise, and a few screaming girls outside the concert hall trying to get a glimpse of the latest "pop sensation" they had just seen on stage, it didn't disturb me getting a good night's sleep. Not the largest room I've stayed in but adequate, with everything you could need. Mirrors a little off putting - on the doors of the wardrobe under the TV, so that you could see yourself whilst lying on the bed watching TV, and the one in the bathroom opposite the toilet, need I say more. I guess the water pressure could have been better in the shower, but it did the job. Breakfast - ah! One of the best I've had in a hotel. Nothing out of the ordinary for menu, but cooked superbly, and the waiting staff were excellent. There was a fire alarm just as I had got seated and ordered a pot of tea. So outside we went, only there for a few minutes and all went back inside again. The staff were unphased by this and went back to serving, etc, I got my pot of tea without having to reorder, and others got theirs too. I have stayed in the Holiday Inn in Liverpool before and it was not a good experience, this one is at the opposite end of the spectrum, well done Glasgow!

Booked this hotel as we were travelling to Glasgow to see the X factor and to shop! Location couldn't be better for the shops! 1 minute to the main shops of which there is sooooo many! Too many to get round in 2 days!
Hotel was excellent! Arrived early at 10am and were given out room straight away! Room was lovely! Room 310 had twin beds and was very very clean! Beds were really comfortable didn't want to get out in the mornings!! Everything was spotlessly clean couldn't fault the room at all! Loads of space for the 2 of us with flat screen tv, tea and coffee facilities, iron and ironing board... Everything!
Breakfast was fab also! Served between 6.30 and 10.30am so was never very busy and big range to choose from! Full hot breakfast, toast, cereal, fruit, pastries and more!!
Also had a meal included in the price for 1 night at the restaurant, booked this for Saturday night, restaurant is lovely, really nice relaxed atmosphere and got 3 courses included which was lovely!
Bar area was always busy and again had a really nice atmosphere, have stayed in hotels before in city centres where noone really uses the hotel bar and there's no atmosphere! At most times in the day there was people in having a drink or a coffee it was a really nice place to chill out!
Staff were all lovely and always smiling, helped us with restaurant recommendations and help with taxis etc!!
Really couldn't find any fault at all!! We will be returning and have already looked at staying again in the summer!!

Not so clean , small rooms , staffs ok. The best thing about it is the location near good restaurants and shopping. The restaurant is too expensive but with great food. The breakfast is served too late . When we arrived to breakfast there was a big line waiting already and it wasant open . It us ok to stay but i would recomend other one. Dont go.

Dear Mariana,

Thank you for your review entitled "well located."

I was suprised to read your comments that breakfast is served too late. Our breakfast times are 06.30 - 10.00 Monday to Friday and 07.30 - 10.30 Saturday and Sunday.

I was delighted to read that you found the location (which is in the heart of the city center) and the food great.

Stayed here on Friday night last week. Stay could not have been more pleasant. Staff very friendly and helpful, room clean and bed comfy! Loved having both firm and soft pillows because my fiancée and I each prefer different so it was a nice touch to have both! Excellent all round!

I've stayed in both Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express which are side to side.
Location is very convenient, but as for the rooms I would say go for Holiday Inn Express - I had standart room in Express which was big, bright and clean, and thought wow, executive room next door in Holiday Inn must be gorgeous!
No, it wasn't. It was small, very dark, overloooking rubbish bins and sort of clean but with smears on the mirrors and a bit dusty. You get some extra toiletries and comp water and chocolate bar, but not the robe and slippers (as advertised), apparently you have to ask for those, as if other niggles are not enough.
I feel it wasn't worth the money, especially comparing to what you can get at half the price at Express.

Dear reviewer,

Thank you for your review of the hotel. I was surprised to read that you didn’t enjoy your stay and disappointed that we didn’t have the chance to ensure that you had a fantastic visit here. We do have rooms located at the front of the hotel that may have been better suited to your needs. Our front desk staff would have been more than happy to accommodate you if you had called down to let us know that you didn’t like the location of your room. As you have already said, bath robes and slippers are available and our front desk team who are available 24 hours and are more than happy to get these items delivered to your room.

Our Executive Housekeeper manages both properties and we often receive feedback about how our rooms “very clean.” I am sorry that you didn’t feel that this was the case on your visit.

I do hope that this wouldn’t deter you from staying here in the future.

Kind regards,

Alan Taylor
