The West End is always vibrant and attracts many visitors from other parts of the City and elsewhere. There is a great variety of shops, bars, restaurants but just strolling around is also very interesting as it has a 'village feel' in fact the local residents refer to the West End as a village.

Full of character. Lots of cafes, interesting shops, restaurants. Nice small cobbled alleyways. Full of students during the term time. Try to get a table for lunch at Kember and Jones on Byres street. Can be difficult to find parking.

Byres Road is the main road of the West End and it has numerous eating places and wine bars with a wide choice of culinary delights. There are lovely little cobbled lanes off the main road with quirky shops and bars. Great Western Road at the top of Byres Road is improving month by month and also has a variety of restaurants and shops. The Botanic Gardens are well worth a visit as is an old converted church Oran Mor. Unfortunately due to the high rates charity shops are taking over but the Red Cross shop offers designer clothes that have a minute flaw and are sold for a third of the price - you just need to look.

Yes, the West End is rightly known for being the place to live in Glasgow; it is busy, vibrant and as I discovered recently, vast. There are great shops and cafes and some of the architecture is really impressive, with rows of large houses, many of which are not split into flats, but in single ownership and beautifully maintained. A good place to stroll around on a sunny afternoon.

Wonderful trip around Glasgow if you havent been to Glasgow for a few years it's an absolute must . The old run down rough areas have been replaced by smart clean open leafy avenues and smart shops, cafés and museums and art galleries. The tour was just under two hours and the commentary kept me interested every step of the way. The hop off and hop on gives you a chance to call in on any of the many attractions you pass on the tour
