Firstly I bought a deal on itson on a whim as I had always wanted to do a bungee jump. My friend and I booked up by e-mail and the responses were quick and helpful from the staff at highland fling. The days prior to the jump I was panicking at the realisation I would actually be jumping off a 165ft crane. The morning of the jump I woke up early and our jump was 12 noon on Sunday 1st june.
There is a massive car park on site (free parking and visitors cam watch from the bottom of the crane) and you can take a mini bus round to the crane or just walk like we did. The staff were amazing from the women checking in and weighing you before the jump (which was reassuring they check every detail and triple check before your jump) to the staff at the top of the crane. There is a nice glass lift which takes you to the observation deck and its only once you are up here you appreciate the views of Glasgow and also how high up it actually is.
You wear 2 harnesses round your waist so you are not attached from your feet and left to dangle upside down once you have jumped which I thought was great as you don't have the blood rushing to your head or anything.
The staff working at the top of the crane were excellent. They spent time setting up all the ropes and safety was paramount. I was last having watched everyone jump off. I ran and just before the ledge I stopped as it just dawned on me what on earth am I doing!! The staff were brilliant and a 2 second pep talk about how the longer you spend up here the worse it is going to be to jump. So I took a few steps back and then ran and jumped off.(I was also last before they stop for lunch so didn't want to keep them all waiting!!)
The feeling is like nothing you will experience, the adrenaline is pumping as you stare at the river Clyde as you are rushing towards it. You can't let out any screams or any words which I didn't think would happen. The whole jump to bouncing back up lasts about a minute but it is such a feeling of being free whizzing through the air,
They take professional shots as you do your jump and although they are £20 (high resolution which you download the next day yourself), it was a one off experience so my friend and I bought them. They will look good blown up on the wall or something.
Overall a fantastic experience and thoroughly enjoyed it.
