To start, the decor is a side issue. It s dated and could be doing with modernisation, but this would probably hike up prices, or reduce the staff presence, so best left as it is.

The food is excellent and the variety and choice would appear second to none in glasgow, let alone anywhere else. £6.95 for all you can eat buffet, with beef, chicken and vegetable dishes. Salad bar with prawns and fish sticks. All the usual stuff and I did try to sample everything, but simply couldn't.

Staff were efficient and it seems to run like clockwork, with dirty plate removal immediate, and clean cutlery constantly available. All dishes were kept topped up too, so no waiting required.

Visited the Kings Lodge as part of a visit to Glasgow, Even though we were a large group staff were friendly enough and food on offer was excellent, starters was a wide variety as well as mains. Food was hot and fresh cannot complain.

Deserts is where this place lets itself down as they are limited and not as good as the starters and mains, A drinks menu would be appropriate so you can see whats available as well as prices.

Overall excellent value for money and would most certainly visit if in the area.

King's Lodge has been in Union Street for some years now (I'm sure it used to be a Pancake Place) and it's been our favourite Chinese buffet place since. That said, it is what it is; fast food, all you can eat and cheap too so don't go expecting haute cuisine, ambience or plinky-plonky music.

This time we went as a work's department outing for lunch and had no complaints. It's usually reasonably busy but service is always fast and efficient, even if you do have to get your own food, and empty or discarded plates are wheeched away before you know it.

There's plenty of food on offer too - from starters, a salad bar and a good range of mains, sides and sweets. Okay, it does tend towards an over-sweet, over-salty, deep/stir-fried menu using probably not the best cuts of meat but there's so much on offer, it'd be hard not to find something to your taste.

Sure you could have a healthy bowl of soup, a salad, some rice and noodles followed by ice-cream and jelly but that's not what you go into a Chinese buffet for is it?
