“yates - unexpected visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

Having been "ousted" from the Griffin by force of numbers of theatregoers transcending local patrons, we walked sauchiehall Street seeking an honest, no frills meal.

Eventually we came to Yates, and more in hope than expectation, we asked if they served meals.

The girl behind the counter assured us that wed could have fish and chips, a bottle of house wine, and even have a "sweet" if we wished.

Thankfully, we took advantage of all three offers (cost less than £25.00) and left with replete feeling of having been welcome in a large yet funnily intimate restaurant/bar. Service was cheerful, and meal was well cooked and tasty.

We are elderly and thankful to find a young persons' place where we were welcome.

Recommended.

“Cheap food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 September 2013

I was glad they had a 2 for 1 offer. I can eat a lot of food when I am hungry and I was afraid only one meal wouldn't be enough, considering how cheap it was. I went with two lasagnas for the price of 6.45gbp and that was enough. The atmosphere seemed nice and the food was good, especially considering how very cheap it was! Nice free garlic bread to the lasagne as well. I was also pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to pay for the water.

“Great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2013

Came here before a gig at the ABC as it looked very cheap. Ordered nachos, chicken combo platter and a bottle of rose wine and only came to £13 odd. Great value, food came fairly quick and was yummy. The best part was the service though, I'm guessing it was a supervisor or manager we spoke to but he was great, very friendly, gave a few recommendations and even sat and talked to us. We even came back after the gig for more drinks! The band we had seen were there to which was a plus! overall good value and lovely staff :)

“basic pub food, friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2013

It's a pub and probably one of the better ones in the local area. Child friendly during the day and basic value for money meals served by the staff who are very friendly & nice. You order at the bar (staff seem to back each other up when its busy) and food comes to your table when its ready.. the staff who served me were helpful in recomending drink & a meal specials and offering an alternative when one item wasn't available.
