“Excellent value for an Overnight Stay”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

Stayed with another couple as part of a day out in Glasgow.

The hotel is newly opened and as such the furnishings and decor are all new and clean.

Room was not huge but we only needed it for sleeping in at the end of a hard day enjoying ourselves.

Good sized double shower cabinet but water temperature was a bit up and down.

Breakfast in the morning was good, with plenty of choice. The open plan tables for eating are a bit quirky but worked for us.

Only downside is the noise outside the hotel when the refuse collection starts about 7am - not really what you need on a Sunday morning, but ti be expected in any city centre.

Good value, good location, good time

Hi Belmores,

Thank you for the excellent review.

As you say we are a new hotel in the heart of the city. From the offset our goal has been to provide a hotel in the heart of the city with comfortable rooms, a lovely breakfast, fresh facilities, and excellent service.

It's great to know we ticked all these boxes for you. I'm sorry to hear some noise played a role during your visit; the city noise can be temperamental in Glasgow.

If booking in the future please quote TRIP14 via our website to receive a 5% discount on future accommodation.

I hope we see you again soon!

Kindest Regards,

Just returned from a two night stay. All areas are spotlessly clean. First night the room was quite chilly as the top windows were a little open and couldn't be closed even when there was secondary double glazing, also an extractor fan made a noise all night. We were allocated another room no problem and it was a lot warmer although there was still a humming noise all the time. All staff we encountered were very professional and nothing was too much trouble for them. Unusual to get this quality from a hotel which is as it should be. Breakfast was an excellent variety and good quality. Again staff in the dining room were great. Would have no problem recommending this hotel and would certainly stay again.

Got a late deal here and loved my stay. Location was great, although it has to be tempered by the "city noise" so a bit of a trade off. Nice but small bar, but room was great, lovely bathroom and shower. Buffet breakfast in the morning was excellent with lots of choice. Downside was the noise from outside and often there seemed to be a body or two down on staff which meant waiting to check in/check out and buy a drink at the bar. Overall though a really good hotel worth staying in.

I booked via the internet and got a rate of 129 pounds for three nights including breakfast.

The hotel is very centrally located and was easy to find.

Upon arrival, it was a bit frustrating to find many steps into the hotel and no assistance was offered with luggage. As I have slight mobility issues, this meant that I took a while to get into the hotel, only to find that there is another entrance round the back of the hotel, which has a lift from the ground floor. Perhaps it would be good to mention this?

My room (217) was spacious and clean. The bathroom was on the smaller side, but perfectly adequate but there was a lack of shelf space to put your toiletries or a toilet bag. The wardrobe space was a little limited and there wasnt anywhere to stash your suitcase. The room lacked a fridge, but did have tea/coffee making facilities.

The breakfast offered plenty of options - fruit, yoghurt, pastries, hot cooked products - and was good. The dining room isnt the biggest, and the coffee machine is in a slightly awkward place. We had to ask each morning for clean cups as there were none.

The bar was fine but expensive.

All the staff that I met were great. They were very helpful and very positive and tried very hard to make the stay a good one. But, I felt that the hotel needed a few more staff, as most of the time, the receptionist would double up as the bar person as well as anything else that was required, and this did mean that you sometimes had to wait for assistance.

On the whole, this was a good hotel to stay in and I would return if I was back in Glasgow for a couple of days. The location is good, the staff are fantastic and the clean hotel was quiet and comfortable.

Thanks for the review Tillybean17!

It's great to hear you enjoyed the hotel and its facilities. I'm sorry you were not informed about the back entrance prior to your arrival. This allows access to the hotel via the street without any stairs.

Thank you also for your kind appraisal of the hotel staff. We are always trying to better our customer service and we consider it one of the most important factors for any hotel.

I've spent 8 nights in this hotel not on 2 seperate trips. Getting into the hotel is convoluted, with stairs, doors, doors and more doors. It's like a fire inspectors dream, more auto closing suitcase unfriendly doors than you could ever want. Anyway, safety first, convenience last is just fine.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, lovely Lauren at breakfast who got my porridge order perfect.
There is a small gym with a pair of treadmills and 2 bikes, great for keeping the circulation going.
The rooms are nice and big, with high ceilings typical of an older building. My first room had the best view of George street, my second room of Renfield Street, both very pleasant.

Room Tip: first or second floors have the biggest windows
