“Excellent location but less than average service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2012 via mobile

We stayed at Premier Inn Glasgow City Center for a week and, in general, its central location is constantly being undercut by less than satisfactory services. First, the Internet service that we bought for 10 pounds was not working, then working at speeds slower than a 1992 dialup (not a guess, checked by a speed test, 11.2 kbps). And in addition to that, they kept leaving one bath towel for a room with two people -- at least 4 days in a row! (They did bring the second towel every time once we called the front desk, but why did we have to do that every single day?) It looks like they're trying to save on essentials that they shouldn't be saving on.

Booked this hotel in person last-minute on a recent trip to Glasgow. Reception consists of a girl sitting at a podium. The cost of the double room, excluding breakfast was £69 and when I asked if we could get it cheaper if we booked on the net we were told we probably could. We asked if there were internet facilities in the hotel or nearby and we were told there weren't.

So we checked in because of the convenient location next to George's Square and because we were tired after a long and emotional day. Our plan was to shower and change and head out for a few relaxing drinks for the night.

The room was a generous size and the bed was very comfortable. Everything in the room was clean which I was pleased about because some of the corridors seemed a little shabby. The pressure in the shower was good and the water was hot. There was a soap/shampoo dispenser on the wall over the bath which didn't work.

We had a good night's sleep and when we got up the next morning we hadn't been disturbed by city-centre traffic. The view from our room was of a beautiful old building across the street. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as we thought that it was very expensive at over £8 each and preferred the idea of finding somewhere nice for lunch a little later in the day. We asked for late check-out and were granted 20 extra minutes without being charged - big deal!

Staff were efficient if not overly friendly and if I had to return I would not have a problem with that. Apparently if you book way ahead of time you can get a double room for as little as £29 but I'm not sure if there has to be a blue moon or flying pigs for this to be the room-rate - at that price it would be a bargain but dear at £69 without breakfast. No luxury, but clean and comfortable and practical for a city-break or business trip where most of your time is going to be spent outside of the hotel room anyway.

Thanks for your feedback. We are very pleased that our team at the hotel ensured that you were well looked after. Our pricing policy works in the same way as many airlines where prices are driven by market conditions at the time. Although prices may increase at times of demand, they may also reduce on nights which are less busy.

We do have a Team who closely monitor all hotels to ensure they are competitively priced as we always try and give you the best value for money. rooms are available from £29 using our Premier Saver deal, a discounted rate available at selected hotels which gives you the opportunity to book early in advance for the best price.

We hope to welcome you back to Premier Inn in the future.

Really excellent stay in a very comfortable, central hotel. Family room was a really good size and gave parents & children seperate space. Staff very friendly & professiona and breakfast really good. Would stay again.

Overall, not a bad place, and in a good location only a few strides from the main shopping area.

Check in was very slow, and a request for a twin was reserved as a double. This took her 10 mins to sort, and we still had to check in using a touch screen system. Pointless really.

The room was clean in the main, and a descant size. Usual facilities as standard, but nothing 'premier'.

View from rear of hotel was ok, and quiet. We got a good nights sleep although others in our party at the front were not so fortunate.

This is an average hotel that would serve well as a base to explore the centre of Glasgow. £75 for the night though, and a very cheaky £8.25 for a breakfast is just too much.

Stopped here for one night to break up a long journey. Hotel was in good location. Check in was easy and our room was huge, comfortable and clean. We had booked evening dinner and breakfast. Both meals were very nice and great value. The children loved it. Staff were all brilliant. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Can be a little noisy at front.
