“A Very Good Traveller's Hotel”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

I stayed for one night in Glasgow at the Premier Inn George Square while travelling north to Fort William. I caught the Glasgow Airport bus to Queen Street railway station and from there it was a short level walk along George Street to the front stairs of the hotel. These were quite steep but as I did not require any assistance, I didn’t notice if there was a separate entrance for disabled travellers. On booking in you were required to use one of the display consoles, and although this can be intimidating, the friendly, helpful staff were there to assist. This was my first stay at a Premier Inn. I found the room, bed and shower room to be spacious, and everything looked very clean. The bed was as advertised: comfortable! The hotel is ideally placed to access the many bars and restaurants of the Merchant City and is also a short walk on the flat to Buchanan Street and the other shopping and leisure areas. Breakfast, which wasn’t included, was reasonably priced and it seems it is a standard Premier Inn one wherever you are in the U.K. Well I suppose it keeps the cost down and it was tasty enough. There are of course many other options not far from the hotel. In conclusion, a very good traveller’s hotel, boosted by cheerful and efficient staff, and one that I will use again.

For price paid this was a great experience. 1 night in June 2014. Good to see multiple elevators. Room was large and spacious. Very warm overnight but was exceptionally happy that a plain sheet was offered instead of doona (first hotel in 2 weeks in Scotland to do so, big thumbs up) even if there was no air con. Secure hotel located right in cbd and close to train station. First time staying at a premier inn but won't be the last.

This was our first trip to Glasgow and we wanted to stay in a budget friendly hotel right in the middle of everything. Couldn't pick a better location, easy walk to Merchant City, Queens Rail station, Glasgow Cathedral and much more. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I'd go back again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Make sure you are on either the 5th or 6th floor facing the cemetery, seriously it was very quiet.

Stayed here for a long weekend, great location, very clean, extremely friendly staff and great value for money, would definitely stay here again and would recommend to any of our friends. Breakfast buffet is highly recommended and after a rainy evening we spent the evening in the bar which was comfy and welcoming, plus a lot cheaper than the local bars.

Have enjoyed staying at many Premier Inns however this one would not stay again. Reason...stayed here in June and weather was good but there is no air conditioning in the rooms here. Temperature was only around 22 degrees outside but 29 in room during day and still 27 during night..not good for a comfortable nights sleep. Sure it's probably ok during the cooler months but not if the weather is fine. Everything else was up to the usual excellant standard so such a shame it was spoilt by this.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on you recent stay with us. I am sorry to hear that your stay was made less comfortable due to the temperature in your room. Our bedrooms do not have air conditioning as you mention, however this is in planning stages to have installed in the coming months. We do though have a couple of other measures to try keep our rooms cool - such as pulling over the curtains, supplying top sheets instead of a duvet and have fans in every bedroom, with spares availbel from Reception. I am sorry if this did not help you during your stay and I hope you managed to let the Team know of your issues for them to look after you. If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to get in contact.

Thank you also for taking the time to mention that everything else was up to an excellent standard.

Kind Regards,
Jamie Cattigan

Very comfortable, clean, big rooms. Staff were very helpful and willing to accommodate. Breakfast was efficient plenty of food and there was marmalade and tea pots! Curtains in rooms were closed to stop the rooms getting too warm but there was also a little AC fan.

Nice hotel in a great location. Staff were generally polite and friendly (although the staff at breakfast weren't as friendly as the staff on the front desk). The room I had was boiling hot both nights - I was given a fan but it didn't make much difference so I didn't sleep very well at all. Overall, a reasonable hotel but not as good as other Premier Inn hotels.
