The is the most famous of Squares and George Square was named after King George III. It is home to headquarters of Glasgow City Council, and boasts an important collection of statues and monuments, including those dedicated to Robert Burns, James Watt, Sir Robert Peel and Sir Walter Scott.
With the Commonwealth Games it was one of the most visited attractions and with the Big G it provided a fantastic photograph opportunity. If the weather is good it is nice just to sit and relax and admire the historic buildings.
There are a number of good restaurants around the Square, including Browns, Jamie Oliver's and Urban Brasserie to name a few.
Well worth a visit to the heart of a vibrant city.
