The staff on reception - helpful and friendly
Room adequate size. Very clean and comfortable
Excellent location
Breakfast - we had to pay £10 extra each....
Staff slow at serving- eggs and mushrooms very overcooked. Sausage - value range!
Other food mainly prepackaged e.g. waffles, portions of cheese, cake
My advice - stay in this hotel, but turn right to Wetherspoons for a very friendly Scottish breakfast at a third of the price!!!

First impressions are great - fantastic location just across from Central Station, lovely decor in entrance lobby & efficient, friendly check-in.

We were on 3rd floor, corridors are dated. Twin room was small but quite well appointed. But rough patches of repair plaster work on the walls, marks/stains on carpet & walls. Scuffs & stains on desk chairs & mirrors, mould & grime in bathroom around sink, plug holes and bath. Mould stain on ceiling around smoke detector.

Staff vary between incredibly friendly to downright rude & indifferent. Housekeepers chatting loudly on mobile phones first thing, staff member not letting us in lift as we were going down not up?! Breakfast staff dropping cutlery and foodstuffs on us while clearing the table very abruptly. Staff member finishing orange juice by pouring herself a glass! Cooked selection very basic and hot-held, bit too greasy but not disagreeable. Poor selection for continental.

Overall, great location for base, lovely front of house decor and management se friendly but behind scenes is very shabby & a few tweaks could vastly improve it. Wouldn't stay for longer than one night.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. We found the room to be clean and comfortable on arrival, and the staff were all lovely and attentive throughout our stay. Also, next to Central Station, it's in a perfect location in the city!

Our only issue was that our room (number 302) leaked when it rained. The leak was in the ceiling above the head of the bed - and the dripping water splashed onto my face whilst I was sleeping. The staff were very helpful in relocating us though, and were extremely apologetic about it happening.

Oh - another small gripe - the morning after our first night we wanted a long lie-in, but the cleaning staff were very noisy out in the corridor and woke us up with their chatting! We didn't complain about this though - it was a minor annoyance only as they moved on quickly. Also - make sure to put the 'do not disturb' sign up, or the cleaning staff will enter the room!

I liked this hotel a lot - it was a shame about the leak in the ceiling, but everything else about it was nice.

I stayed here with family members for one night to have an extended family celebration. All our rooms were comfortable, clean and warm, however each of our rooms had silly things wrong which could easily have been reported and fixed, our room shower head did not sit in it's bracket so you had to hold it to shower, another room had no shower head, but had bath, and another the shower head was to low and could not be adjusted. two of them also had lights above the bed which did not work. Apart from these small issues, staff were very warm and friendly the breakfast was varied and plentiful. unfortunatley the small issues put me off.

Room Tip: rooms at the back may be less noisey

The Artto is in a great location, right across from Central Station and within a couple of blocks of major shopping and sights as well as the subway to get to fantastic museums, etc. It is on the doorstep of all of the action. The staff is very friendly and helpful and breakfast was great. That said, the room was sub par for what I expected. It was clean but the bed was terribly uncomfortable (too soft) and the bed frame itself was a bit beat up. Only the bathroom and overhead lights worked. The room itself was really tiny (which we expected but you should be aware if you don't like small spaces) and was on the first floor so VERY noisy with traffic and multiple bars outside (a plus if you would like to party), even with closed windows. I suspect that the upper floors would be quieter.

Room Tip: Upper floors would likely be quieter.
