This hotel was ideal for our short stay in Glasgow because of its proximity to transport, shops and pubs. In addition, there is a superb Italian restaurant (La Lanterna) next door (didn't try the Indian attached to the hotel though). Staff helpful. The room was adequate and value for money even as a last-minute booking. No point in paying 10 quid for breakfast as there's countless cafes and coffee houses nearby. Four stars from me and I would consider staying again at the same price.

Pretty much got what you paid for - there was a construction site outside across the road so very loud and the mattress was all springs but it's cheap and clean and the hotel offers a great location and it's tidy and warm. Budget but ok wouldn't stay too long

whilst the hotel was in an ideal location and the reception/bar area was nice, that's where the pleasantries end. The room was dirty, the door did not lock from the inside and could easily have been opened from the outside with very little force. the lights above the bed did not work which meant having to have the large ceiling lights on or none at all. the shower was broken and did not stay in its holder. the seal on the window was broken and this meant the room was cold and drafty. the hotel was very noisy and the windows provided little noise cancelling from the outside. I would definitely not stay here again

This is the ideal hotel for a night out in Glasgow. I have stayed twice in the last month. I must say the 2nd exceeded expectations from the 1st.

nice clean room, ideal for the odd night here or there. ideal location for getting around Glasgow. staff are second to none. excellent service. friendly, nothing is too much hassle.

ended up with free breakfast as well.

defo worth a stay

Room Tip: not facing hope street-bit nosier, try get the back of the hotel

Loved this hotel staff were very helpful & friendly. The bar is always busy too so there is good atmosphere. The hotel is opposite glasgow central train station and in the centre of town so it's an ideal location. Will defo be back

I was going to a conference at the Grand Central Hotel but the rooms there were £280 a night at the time I looked which was out of my price range. I found the Artto on Trip Advisor and booked it for £60.10. It is literally over the road from the Grand Central and of course the railway station of the same name.

On arrival, the sports bar in which reception is located was noisy to the extent that I could barely hear the receptionist speak. The receptionist herself was friendly and efficient, and check in went without a hitch. From my room, located on the 2nd floor, I couldn't hear the bar at all. The room was not large, but appeared to have everything I needed. It was warm enough, but it was a mild day when I visited and I imagine at colder times extra blankets would be appreciated and these were not provided.

The bed was large and I found it comfortable. The white bed linen was spotless. The view from the room was not the best, it was at the back of the hotel and the dustbins were below. This has the advantage however of being quiet, that is until some machinery or other started up at 7am and continued for at least an hour. I have no idea what it was, or whether it was anything over which the hotel had any control.

The bathroom was modern and functional, however there were some cracked tiles and other faults here and there. Despite that it was clean. I've been in better showers but there was plenty of hot water so it's nothing I would complain about.

There was no remote for the TV and, as I found out in the morning the hairdryer didn't work. Both of those items were also some two years overdue for PAT testing. I didn't complain to reception so it's quite possible they would have remedied those problems if I had have done so (apart from the PAT tests obviously). I just didn't really need them so didn't bother.

I didn't stay for breakfast because I had room only and ate at the conference.

All in all, the day I was in Glasgow hotels were at a premium and this hotel was a bargain at the price. Yes it had some faults, but for the single night I stayed there these didn't really worry me. I would stay again if I find myself in Glasgow.

We stayed here in March 2014, it is in a great location 2 minutes from Grand Central Station so no travelling once off the plane & train. Our room was small & at night noisey as we were at the front of the house & over the bar. The staff were so helpful & friendly they couldn't do enough for you. The room was clean & tidy not spotless & the bath was chipping, the hand soap was empty too also there were no blankets or throw for the bed just a light duvet in saying of all this I would stay here again but just ask for a room on the second floor or higher & also to the back of the hotel.

Room Tip: Over the 1st floor & to the back of the hotel
