“Nice hotel, good breakfast service”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

We stayed in the hotel as a stopover to break up a journey. The hotel staff were welcoming and pointed us in the direction for food (as the restaurant had closed by the time we arrived).

Rooms were big and no issues with cleanliness.

The hotel had a function/party on the same night we stayed, however we were not bothered by the noise at all.

The hotel is not in the best location for seeing Glasgow/getting into the city centre, but it was ideal for us as it was not far from the motorway and was a comfortable stop as part of a longer journey.

Breakfast service was efficient (given the amount of guests eating) and plenty of choice.

Would stay again.

Stayed here for one night on 5th July with dinner and breakfast. I was a bit worried about it after reading some of the reviews on here but it was unfounded. Had to wait no more than a couple of minutes at reception and they were very cheery and helpful when they did arrive. The room showed a small bit of wear and tear but nothing major. Dinner itself was good, food was well cooked and decent size portions. It was a good, undisturbed sleep due to the location of the hotel. Breakfast in the morning was fine, a continental buffet and a choice of items for a cooked breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful the full weekend so all in all a very good stay all round. It's nothing fancy but then again it doesn't pretend to be. The only thing that lets it down is tthe location, not very handy for anywhere but we knew that prior to going so no surprise there.

Enjoyed stay here. Had groupon deal and was happy with the bargain. Surprised at the bad reviews here - we found staff present and helpful and room lovely. Restaurant was above average but not out-of-this-world.

Visited this hotel as I had Groupon for Afternoon tea. Was no-one on Recep[tion, so we found our own way to the bar, again no-one there, ten minutes later a girl appeared and told us to "hold on" another ten minutes passed til she reappeared and showed us to our table - she was pleasnat and helpful enough but seemed rushed of her feet. The cups arrived and had to be returned as they were dirty, there was no choice of sandwiches given and a plate load arrived - the sandwiches were okay - though not very appetising, we had to ask for plates. The two scones were tiny as were the pancakes and no butter or jam was provided. The cakes were a joke - one piece of caramel shortbread cut into 4 small chunks, another type of tray bake again cut into 4 small changes, some madeira slices and 3 biscuits. The only pleasant thing was the glass of bubbly. This was meant to be a Fathers Day treat, it was just awful I was embarrassed and so very disappointed. I certainly won't be back.

Stayed here on May 10th this year & has to be the worst hotel stay ever.
There was only 2 staff to run whole hotel, bar & dining room which also had a 50th birthday party.
Service shocking by understaffed waitresses, at meal had to clean table ourselves find our own cutely, never got drinks which we paid for, I asked for steak knife but got a USED dirty one!
The room smelled of stale urine and was filthy! on leaving I asked to speak to manager but none available so went for breakfast and the service by the waiter was the only nice thing I can say about this hotel.
On arriving home I have sent 2 emails to the company with no reply so disappointed as I gave them the chance to redeem themselves!

Room Tip: Another hotel!

I stayed in this hotel for 2 days for my sisters wedding and I actually cannot fault it. The staff could not do enough to help us and the rooms were lovely (for what you pay). Food was lovely too and would recommend this to anyone thinking about staying here.

I just spent £1300 on a 5 day course that involved overnight accommodation as well as all meals provided.

The bar staff and most of the restaurant staff were lovely, friendly and couldn't be nicer...

The rooms were basic, the tv's whistled and whined, the pillows are too soft and offer no support. The showers have too much pressure which makes them leak all over the floor and into the cracks in the walls. The were cracks in the plasterboard and floor.

The restaurant was lovely however the food was horrific!!! From Sunday to Thursday mushrooms were on the menu from breakfast to lunch to dinner... Mushroom stroganoff, mushroom and chicken curry, breaded mushrooms, garlic mushrooms, cream of mushroom soup, mushroom curry, mushrooms with breakfast... Mushrooms everywhere!!!

The sphagetti wasn't cooked properly, the rice was sodden and water soaked, the mash potatoes were too salty, the steak was cooked perfectly at one side and cold and raw in the middle, the soul was burnt and they still served it, the curry was basically water with colouring in it...

The food was absolutely terrible!!! It destroyed the stay...

On the second last day they removed the cups from the room in order to make you check out faster.
