“Fantastic Accommodation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2008

Booked a 2 night midweek family break in the Glasgow Lofts. Don't be put off by the exterior 'office building' look the interior is absolutely fantastic. We had a 2 bedroomed apartment on the 6th floor, the master being king sized with ensuite jacuzzi bath and huge shower cubicle. The twin room was off the living room with dividing doors which was ideal for the kids who had their own toilet and shower room as well. The open plan living/dining/kitchen area is superb with all the appliances you could wish for. The Lofts are perfectly situated for exploring all Glasgow has to offer, I can't recommend it highly enough. There is also underground secured parking available. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful, we normally book hotels when we go away but this has given us a whole different perspective. We paid £155 per night for a family of four which was outstanding value for money given the quality of accommodtaion. Will certainly be making a return visit.

We've just returned from a weekend stay at the Glasgow Lofts, which we booked directly on their website. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so accommodating and friendly. From helping with directions and ordering cabs, to allowing us to borrow DVDs for the kids - it was really great and makes all the difference.

The apartments themselves have a real "wow" factor and very spacious - wooden floors, jacuzzi bath, bathrobes, small modern radiators, fully equipped kitchen, open plan with some clever "sliding" room partitions and STUNNING views across the Glasgow roof tops in a southerly direction. One entire wall, which runs along the length of the apartment is glass - amazing experience when the sun is streaming in (there are of course blackout blinds). Just to note there are also apartments across the corridor facing in the opposite direction - I have no idea what their views are like, but I would advise to ask for a rooftop view to the South.

You also get free passes to the pool in the Thistle hotel which is literally 50 yards away and is open from 8.30am to 9pm - fantastic for the kids - just be aware that main pool is quite deep so any child under 10 probably wouldn't be able to stand - however there is a small kiddies area/pool. There's also full SPA facilities, jacuzzi, etc. for adults.

As regards location, it's great. Pretty much in the centre of everything and a £3 cab ride from the central train station (if you're too lazy to walk). We were there on a shopping weekend and the location surpassed our expectation - so many shops, so little time.

One small negative is the night time revellery and associated noise - but then I guess this depends on your viewpoint. There are a lot of youngsters enjoying life at the top of their voices, not to mention souped up cars which roar down the street into the early hours. So a piece of advice - close the vents at the top of your window before you go to bed - this helps enormously.

Overall, a great place to stay and I'm looking forward to going back.

This was our first trip to Scotland and we were having a difficult time finding a place to stay in Glasgow. When we found the Glasgow Loft Apartments online we knew our search had ended! We hoped that our experience would meet our expectations from the reviews and photos on the website. The apartment managers were very accommodating with our booking. This was helpful considering we were calling from the US.

Upon our arrival we were greeted by one of the fantastic concierges that we had the privilege of meeting during our stay. We were directed to our room, and it was beyond our expectations. We had originally requested a room with a good view, hoping for an upper level apartment. To our surprise, they gave us the top floor apartment. This was not only was an upgrade from a one bedroom to a two bedroom (at no additional cost) - but was also, in our opinion, the best apartment in the building.

We were so impressed with the cleanliness, spaciousness, and sleek modern interior of our apartment that we took pictures of every room :). We also could not get enough of the stunning panoramic view of Glasgow!!! We also appreciated the free membership at the fitness club 1/2 block away which included a workout area, sauna, swimming pool, and jacuzzi. Other amenities worth mentioning were the jacuzzi bathtub and bidet located in our master bathroom.

The lofts were situated near the city center, allowing us to conveniently access major shopping areas and restaurants.

The concierge staff were very hospitable, knowledgeable, and possessed a great sense of humor. They went out of their way to help us find whatever we were in search of - which included restaurants, Loch Lomond, the SECC, and a last minute Glasgow Ranger soccer game!

If you are planning a trip to Glasgow, stay at the Glasgow Loft Apartments!!! From our viewpoint (which incidentally was the best view in the city) there isn't a better place in Glasgow to stay!!

We were very impressed with the general overall space for the money - way better value than any hotel room for sure. Our apartment had a spacious open plan living area with two sofas, dining table, tv, dvd player, fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher and washer dryer. The bedrooms are small but perfectly adequate, full size bathroom with jacuzzi bath and separate shower cubicle and second shower room. All very modern with wooden floors, neutral decor, white linens and nice touches such as bath robes, Molton Brown toiletries, bottled water, tea/coffee etc. Were quite wowed with the floor to ceiling windows giving the most amazing city skyline views (we were on the 13th floor). The reception and concierge staff were lovely offering great advice on places to go and things to do. All good and no real complaints at all - if being majorly picky they could make them a bit more luxurious without much expense with their choice of soft furnishings such as lamps, cushions etc which already look a bit dated but as I say - it was all good and am just trying to find flaws. The one thing I would say is the glass worktops in the kitchen do not work - they look really grotty given that water seems to get trapped underneath - design flaw - but as I say, am being very picky here!! Overall, a great place to stay and would recommend and also go again without hesitation.

Lovely apartment that met our expectatiosn having read other reviews. We arrived early and were able to check into out apartment early.

Everything in the apartment was as expected, great big bright rooms, furnished to a high standard, newspapers and eating out guides for Glasgow and very clean.

Only one negative - and it is only a suggestion - but given that we were four adults there was only slippers and dressing gowns for two. Not that big a deal - but if we had been staying a bit longer it would have been nice for everyone to have use of them. Also having stayed at other apartments that often have a welcome pack of provisions - this may also be a good idea as the UHT milk and packets don't really match the high standard of the apartments.

When we arrived at the lofts we were greeted by very friendly and welcoming staff, who answered any questions we had, advised us of good spots to visit, where amenities were etc. There was always someone on the front desk who always made conversation with us and was always willing to help.

The appartment itself was very spacious and bright! Nice and modern! There were only two of us so didnt use the spare room, but did consider as it was right off of the lounge and a pull across door seperated it, noise from other parties or the tv may be an issue!! There were two seperate bathrooms one with just a shower the other with shower and jacuzzi bath (very nice!!) which were clean bright and airy! There's also a little cafe inside the building which wasn't overly priced and served nice coffee!

The view was off the city but did look a bit grey and dull in the drizzle, but didnt look so bad when the sun made an appearance! You get what it says basically; city view. So not bad but not overly attractive! Also no wandering around naked with the blinds up as floor to ceiling windows allows everyone to have a "view"!! Lol!

The city itself had lots of shops and we found a fantastic Thai called Thai Orchid in Argylle st which was lovely, put some sparkle into the evening! The Stand comedy club is a short subway journey away and a good cheap night out!! We went mon-wed nights and found limited nightlife but still some bars etc to have a drink in.

All in all it was a enjoyable stay and the appartments are fantastic, and accompanied by staff who care!
