This charming guest house was well situated for quiet enjoyment and access to attractions, parkland, a range of restaurants and pubs and transport facilities. The rooms were lovely and tastefully decorated and guests were encouraged to use the dining room at any time.
Breakfast catered for the individual and offered a range of fresh food. The service was superb and the hosts were gracious and obliging.

After years only passing by, this time we actually stayed 3 nights in Glasgow in April and found Alamo guesthouse just by chance, but what a gem! Situated in a quiet part of Glasgow right beside Kelvingrove park, it's in short walking distance to amazing and unusual Kelvingrove art gallery, university and many lovely restaurants. Alamo is in a 19th century's victorian buildung with very different rooms, with or without en-suite. We opted for a small en-suite on the ground floor, which suited us very well. The very big sceen TV was pure luxury, but unfortunately there was no chance to view some of 400 availiable DVD's. We were lucky that the couple staying in room 12 let us have a glimpse inside. Wow!...that's ours (hopefully) during our next Glasgow visit! A wonderful breakfast was served by Steve in the tasteful decorated breakfast room with lots of Ian Gray's paintings (have a look at his website) and we were lucky to join in there on a private whisky tasting on the day of our arriving (and later, on the day of our departure!). Which leeds to the most important part of this review - our hosts! A house by itself s just a couple of stones (even beautiful ones in this case), but comes to life by the people who inherit it.

Steve and Emma,
thank you so much for this great Glasgow experience and a warm and kind welcome to your family home. You made us feel leaving as friends after only three days and we're looking forward to 2015!

My partner and I spent two nights in the Alamo Guest House this summer. He had booked the twin room for the first night, the second night we were offered an upgrade to the master bedroom- the Luxury En-suite- that overlooks the Kelvingrove Park. This room is just phenomenal: kingsize bed, bathtub with view to the flatscreen TV with 3-D DVDs and a fancy shower with LED lights. Really something special. Because we had something to celebrate, the owner, Steve, had even left a bottle of champagne for us! Breakfast was superb. All in all, everything you ask for in a guest house and more- Steve is a great host. He is extremely friendly and will go out of his way to make sure you enjoy your stay at the Alamo. We will definitely come again.

Room Tip: If you can afford the Luxury En-suite, do it. Its so much fun!

We stayed two nights August 2013 and had a great experience. Steve and Emma (the owners) were very welcoming and worked around our early schedule as we had a bus tour to get to. Room 5 was very nice and used the space creatively for two twin beds. Check it out you won't be disappointed.

It was our 5th stay at the Alamo Guest House, only this time we had our two very young sons with us. Our room was beautifully decorated, very clean and welcoming and there was enough space for our two travel cot/beds.
We had tea/coffee facilities in our room, a large flat screen TV with DVD player with access to DVDs provided by the guest house. Free wifi was also available.
The feel of the guest house is very grand but cosy. The colours are very warm, the finer details such as antique furniture, large ornate mirrors and art work found around the guest house and rooms sets the guest house above the rest.
Breakfast is held in a large dining room where there is plenty of choice from cereals, porridge, fresh fruit, warm croissants, eggs, sausages and bacon, we had no problem encouraging our boys to eat!
The staff were friendly, always happy to help. The owners, Steve and Emma are more than happy to help with any queries - recommending places to visit, places to eat and talk about the history of Glasgow.
The Alamo is opposite to a large park and you can walk into the town which takes around 30 mins to the centre.
As I said, this is our 5th stay at the Alamo and we do plan to return again!

Located in Glasgows beautiful west end a short walk from the bus station, the Alamo is a beautifully decorated, clean, friendly guest house. The owner Steve and his famly are super-friendly and welcoming. The bathrooms are modern and immaculate, the first thing I noticed about my room was that it looked far better than the pictures which is very unusual, the bed was very high quality as was the breakfast. I felt very refreshed after staying there and will be returning next time I visit Glasgow, I would recommend it to anyone

Room Tip: I had a basement room which isnt really a 'basement', its very light and I had a view
