This B&B is very professionally run. But I did feel they goofed on one small aspect. I paid full double price for my room even though I was travelling without my partner. That didn't bother me. But I did think it was pretty poxy that when I arrived in the room one set of towels was removed. It would have been nice to have had both sets! The location is excellent with airport bus, hop on and off bus and buses to town only steps away, as are many museums and art galleries. Good eating places close by also. You'll enjoy staying here. Fantastic breakfasts.

The Alamo Guest House is located next to Kelvingrove park right by the University. The location was beautiful and perfectly situated for visiting my son, who is a student at the University. The location is quiet, but there are restaurants and pubs within a few minutes walk.

Being in the travel industry, I tend to look at all travel aspects from a more critical viewpoint than most travelers. I would highly recommend the Alamo Guest House for its quiet yet accessible location. The bedroom and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The tea tray and selection of cookies were perfect after a busy day of shopping and sightseeing. The hosts, Steve and Emma, were welcoming, accomodating and knowledgeable.

My husband and I have just returned from our anniversary trip in Glasgow where we stayed at the Alamo guest house, and cant stop talking about it. It was much more than we ever could have imagined. the management is top notch, catering to your every need. Breakfast in the elegant dining room was beyond belief. We definately recommend staying in the Superior Luxury Standard Suite. It has great views of the park and worth the short walk across the hall to the large bath for two. The high ceilings, fireplace, and large windows are breathtaking, they dont make 'em like that 'em like that anymore! You must also be sure to pay a visit to Flash, large, sweet cat who resides in the reception area.

We stayed one night in the Alamo Guest House and were very pleased with what we found. The welcome was very welcoming and we were made to feel at ease. We were upgraded to the family room which was beautifully decorated with a very large bed (two singles pushed together but you couldn't really tell). It was lovely and warm - very important in Scotland! The en suite was really stylish (the owners favourite) and the power shower was fab. There was also a shared bathroom with a bath if you prefer.
The location was perfect for what we wanted to do and the breakfast room had a good view of the Kelvingrove park and museum. Parking on the road outside was free from friday (after 6) and all day on weekends.

We are a family with 3 teenagers (12-14-16yrs). We stayed at the Alamo guesthouse for 3 nights during the week of 22/02/2009 - 27/02/2009. The guesthouse was recommended by my family. Although we knew everything would be ok, we were surprised it was even better than expected.
From the first mails for reservation with Steve till the last breakfast we had, it all was perfect.
Excellent and spacious rooms with all comfort included. Clean and modern bathrooms. Tray with a selection of cookies and instant coffees and tea provided. Tasty breakfast with bacon/eggs served as buffet. Billing correct as agreed by e-mail.
And the most important is the warm welcome we had from our hosts.

This is the best wee jewel in the West End!! The decor is stunning, the rooms are spotless, cosy, charming - and next to all the best that Glasgow has to offer. We stayed in the room with chaise long and bay windows. It was bliss to sit and watch the world go by. Breakfast was more than enough - scrambled egg with croissants and all the other continental bits. Fresh fruits too....delicious. Just book !!! You honestly won't regret it. The folks are so lovely without being in your face. Go !!

Stayed 4 nights at The Alamo in Room 1 which overlooked a lovely park view and the University to the side. Arrived by train so can't comment on parking.

Steve and Emma were very welcoming and friendly, offering their knowledge of places to see and eat, which we followed and were generally pleased with.

The location was fantastic for us and close to a number of attractions and good restaurants that Steve recommended to us - try The Sisters just round the corner it is excellent. Mother India good as well. The Drawing Room we found to be not as good as we expected, serving stone cold sticky pudding and it took about 25 minutes to make a cocktail even though it wasn't busy and plenty of staff! I noticed a few other diners had left plates with part uneaten sticky toffee pud - such a shame because when it was warmed it was very moreish.

Room 1 is on ground floor and quite nicely decorated, it had a wall mounted 42inch plasma and DVD player with free use of Steves DVD collection. We were told we could have sole use of dining room after 9pm, and Steve kindly let us use the fridge for our wine. The en-suite was slightly disappointing due to a poor shower pressure and the basin tap water little more than a trickle, but it wasn't a huge deal and we managed okay.

Breakfasts were of good quality with selection of fruit, yogurt, cereal, etc. There were 2 hot options of good bacon and scrambled egg - the same each morning, it was tasty and ample but staying for 4 breakfasts we would have liked to have a different option choice perhaps sausage one morning instead of bacon or fried egg instead of scrambled - but this is not a complaint just a point of view.

Overall, we would be happy to recommend Alamo to friends although if we stayed there again perhaps we would ask for an upper floor room, as Room 1 is right off the reception area and you can hear everything including people checking in and standing round chatting, in turn we worried that our TV might be disturbing other guests, but again this can happen anywhere so don't be put off.

Comments to Steve & Emma - Leaving a hairdrier in the room would be better option than having to ask for one, and a few more coathangers would be handy. But otherwise you guys do a good job!
