“Be very afraid”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2009

A ghastly pub on a busy raod. The rooms above on three floors reached only by a steep staircase. Carpet very stained with black marks in the middle and under the table. The floor sloped towards the middle of the room and vibrated with every passing bus. The "shower" in the bath was hand held and did not fit in the bracket. The noise of the cars on the road only paused around four in the morning and the broken bottles on the street outside were as alarming as the teenagers punching each other in the Council estate next door.
The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful

I looked at the slot machines and big screen TV as I entered the unprepossessing entrance of this hotel and wondered what we'd come to. Things changed though! Charlene was a terrific help, directed us to the Burrell Collection (which we'd come to see and wasn't far away); the room was very nice with a large bathroom and the food was delicious in the conservatory restaurant. Opposite a park, it is on the south side of Glasgow and good value for money.

We stayed for one night on 8th May and were really pleased with this hotel. First impressions were really good, all of the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Off street parking for the hotel was a great bonus. Our room was large, very clean and quiet, we were not bothered by noise at all. Beds were firm and comfortable. Breakfast was really nice, it is served in a glass extension at the front of the hotel so we could watch the world go by. Breakfast was cooked perfectly and was served by a really nice girl who made us feel very welcome. We'd definatly stay at the Ivory hotel again.

We spent a week at the Ivory Hotel and can't say enough good things about our experience there. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and had a lovely view facing Queen's Park. The hotel is located in a nice, quiet area in Glasgow and has a good pub and restaurant that makes it an ideal place to unwind after a long day sightseeing. What we will remember most fondly is the friendly and caring staff. They went to great lengths to make sure that we were comfortable and well taken care of. We certainly look forward to returning.

Stayed here on the basis of the previous reviews. You book in in the bar / restaurant area, which is clean and modern. Given the room key and told the room was on second floor. The stair and landing carpets were not clean, but proceded to my room. On one landing there was an ironing board and a vacumn cleaner. I realised that both were for guests use. The rooms had obviously been updated a couple of years before, but little done to them since. The wardrobe had glass panels, one was missing. The bathroom had the toilet roll holder broken. The carpet may have been cleaned but not under chairs etc. The bathroom had a tiled floor and I did not fancy walking on it in bare feet.
The restaurant was excellent, the food superb, and good value.
Breakfast was another thing. Went down at 8.00am not a soul around, wandered all round but nobody in kitchen or anywhere else and no sign of food. Eventually someone came in and asked what I wanted, he proceded to arrange for a continental breakfast which was Ok if you like corn flakes! Asked about payment and had to wait for 20 mins for charlie to arrive, by now it was 9.20am.
This could be an ideal place but it is basically a restaurant for evening meals with a few rooms. I should have realised this when looking at the website pictures.
If you want a good meal then come here, if you are a business person who needs to get away in the morning, and like a clean place to stay, then pay more elsewhere.

  • Liked — Restaurant in the evening
  • Disliked — The rest.
