“Avoid at all costs!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 January 2014 via mobile

By far the worst "hotel" I have had the misfortune of staying in. Went on a long weekend to Glasgow with my fiancé and it was spoiled by the lies on the website. The rooms are tiny and in need of maintenance. Our bathroom tiles were cracked and dangerous, the shower leaked and flooded the bathroom when used, the duvet was dirty and ripped and there were holes and oil on the doors. When we complained we were greeted with rude argumentative reception staff. The manager attempted to fix the room which led to out second night having to use a bathroom covered in white powder from the grout. The shower was changed from a leaking one to a damaged one!

The breakfast was poor and was served turkey rashers instead of bacon and vegetarian sausages, overall was poor value for money. There is lots of stairs and no lift and not one of the members of staff showed us to our room or offered to help with luggage. The room facing the back to the car park so all night we could here bottles thrown into bins from the next door bar.

We decided to stay here instead of our normal choice as it saved us £30 but it was the worse mistake we ever made and ruined our weekend.

For 30odd pounds this place was good for a stay over. Room was nice as was bathroom. I would say though if anyone books don't ask for room 5! its right behind the reception and feels a bit 'somebody's watching'. Should not be rented as a room in my opinion!

Breakfast was decent enough again for the price.

Room Tip: Ask for lower ground room or basement.

My room was small and dark (I was in the basement) and I had to ask reception for a kettle. But the room was clean. Choice at breakfast was limited. And I would have preferred proper coffee (they have one of those machines which seem to be increasing popular in hotels these days). The hotel is in a good, reasonably central, location though and is very good value.

I had a very pleasant stay at this small hotel, about 15 minutes walk from Glasgow Central train station. The weather was atrocious but the hotel was warm and cosy. I requested a quiet room as I'd read that some of the rooms on the front were rather noisy. Room 10 was downstairs from reception. The single room was small but spotless. The shower was brilliant and I had three very comfortable nights. Disappointing selection at breakfast but the hotel staff were efficient and very helpful.

Stayed here for two nights mid December. Lovely little hotel and only minutes from Sauchiehall Street and the City Centre an easy walk. Had a room right next to reception which was not the best as you could hear all the noise from people coming and going but apart from that the stay was fantastic, room was clean and tidy and breakfast was good. Definitely recommend for a short stay in Glasgow.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not next to reception.

We stayed at the a Newton hotel one night after a show at the Kings Theatre, the two rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the showers in the rooms were great the only down side the lighting in the rooms could have been better. Great value for money.
