“Fish Supper with style”

If you are looking for a fantastic fish tea then I would recommend The Chippy Doon The Lane. The fish is huge and covered in a gorgeous crispy batter served with delicious chips and a lovely tartar sauce, along with bread butter , tea or coffee. The restaurant is very stylish and the staff are all very friendly and make you feel very welcome. You can also enjoy a glass of wine whilst waiting for your meal to be served, I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will be back soon.

“Quantity over quality”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

Visited here for tea yesterday as I always am intrigued when in Glasgow.
Sadly, not a good visit.
Firstly, I will start by saying the staff are generally friendly, so not too much to comment on there.
The food is what really lets the place down. Pro's and con's:
Pro's:
The chips are good.
Con's:
The fish portion was too big it wasn't cooked well.
The batter is FAR too thick.
They use cardboard containers to serve the food in which are too small for the portions.
The fritters weren't cooked, resulting in hard potato.
The batter/oil repeated on me even still today.
You are 50p for ONE slice of bread....
The bathrooms were a bit crap (massive queue for the gents with one loo, ladies no soap available, and loo roll placed on the sanitary bins - yuck. Thankfully brought my own.)

So yeah, not a very good visit. If they were to focus on smaller portions and do them better, they would be on to a winner. However, being faced with a box of batter isn't really what I would be looking for. And for 9 quid odd each for the pleasure..I don't think so.

Won't be back or recommending.

“Had others cheaper yet way better!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014

Went here for a birthday treat. Heard loads of good stuff, bit it was a complete letdown. Felt like a hinderance than a customer. Service was disgusting and food full of oil. Very sickening. Had a chippy from a kebab shop that was better than this place! Waste of money!

“Chilled chippy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2014

Been here a few times when in town so when we popped in for lunch during the school holidays we were pleased to get seated straight away. Took my niece who is quite a fussy eater but she ignored the kids menu and went straight for the adult haddock supper whilst I had the king rib.
Service was friendly and quick. Good sized portions for gubbers like us, and the food was tasty. This is the way to enjoy chippy food - a nice chilled setting and dining experience without smelling like a chippy for days afterwards!
Will return and would recommend
