This tour had been well recommended and I endorse those. You see a world underneath the obvious activity and hear some interesting stories. The guide, Paul, is a fanatic and there is much humour. He knows the place inside out and has ideas to develop a museum element to the disused platforms that few know about. There is funding in place and things should be even more exciting in a year's time, with a steam locomotive etc. There are notions of additional tours. I would have enjoyed hearing about how the station operates, but as the show biz people say, "leave 'em wanting more"..

This was a last minute tour we were lucky to have the time to do. It was amazing. Something you don't get to do or see with a lot of tours. Paul, the guide, was fantastic, funny, passionate and a great story teller. I have already highly reccommened this to family and friends

Paul the guide took us on an entertaining, fascinating and educating tour down into the darkness under Glasgow Central Station. We were given the facts, figures and dates of the building. We were told about the dangers lurking in the engine smoke and down the tunnel behind the store room (rats can't be that big, can they??!).
But for me the best was Paul's stories of the people. Wives looking for dead husbands brought back from the WW1 front. Villagers dispersed by the building of the station. Boys working in the stores.
The architecture above the platforms is stunning but down under the brick arches Paul brought the spaces to life with the lives of people who had to be there. Well done and thank you - and best wishes for the museum, I look forward to seeing it.

Was on the Merchant City/East End tour on Saturday 23rd June. The guides were enthusiastic and had lots of information about the various venues which were almost all viewed from outside. We were allowed into the Panoptican, Glasgow's oldest music hall which is gradually being restored. However, the guide seemed to concentrate on post-punk/ 80's music which was fine but no mention of older bands, e.g. The Poets, who were latterly played at the Scotia (as the Blues Poets), one of the venues mentioned. On the whole there was lots of info on the Glasgow music scene.

Very informative guild , great to see under central station , still some work to be done as tour still feels a bit short and some of he things shown in future will be better i.e. restoration of low level platforms , overall and excellent and interesting tour :-)
