We rented Christmas week in a Cairngorm Villa, excellent views, lovely accommodation, top drawer in fact. There were minor issues (small damage to leather chair, shower door rim could have been cleaner, laundry room machines clogged and some grit in drum (caused by selfish moronic visitors obviously using them for footwear). We had no great expectations for the Christmas Dinner which we pre-booked in the club restaurant, however, we were pleasantly surprised, the atmosphere was good, the food was lovely (well presented and well cooked) and the staff were excellent, we have paid higher prices for less quality in supposedly superior establishments. The housekeeping staff were very helpful and friendly. Yes, the charges for electricity are separate but we were five adults having sometimes 2 showers a day because of
activities, mostly eating in and keeping the villa very cosy, so we were high users. The overall cost for the standard of the place and what it offers (the accommodation, the location, the onsite facilities) was not excessive

Room Tip: Our villa had a huge conservatory on the upper floor which looked over the golf club to the snow cov...

Stayed in one bedroom chalet from 29/12 for a week. Lovely clean unit, very homely. Nice pool, sauna, steam room with limited gym facilities. Food could have been better in restuarant but plenty of places to eat in aviemore main st, which was about 5 mins in car. Cairngorm brewery which is 5 mins from clubhouse, was good with plenty of banter. I enjoyed spey valley, its à nice relaxed place.

We stayed in Chalet 24 over New Year. As others have said the Chalets are not spacious but we found them fine for the four of us. On arrival checking was efficient and the apartment was clean, warm and well equipped. I believe that it was refurbished about two years ago.

A call to reception to report an issue with the TV was dealt with swiftly. There were various activities for both children and adults at the resort while we were there and we enjoyed those we attended.

Being News Year the resort was busy and the swimming pool changing rooms could have benefited from more regular cleaning and maintenance.
There always seemed to be a lot of water on the floor making it difficult to keep the children dry when getting them changed.

For those looking for lots of space I'd recommend one of the Morlich lodges which are very spacious 3 bedroom bungalows with private saunas. We've stayed in Morlich 15 which overlooks the river Spey a few times and love it.

P.S. Chalet 33 is being refurbished in January.

We stayed in a wooden chalet which looked about forty years old and in which cleaning can best be described as "superficial". The oven was greasy and the loobrush was dirty. The chalet was quite small and we thought that the other accommodation on site was probably nearer the standard which we expected. Some of the reception staff ( not the local lady) were snooty and disdainfull to the point of rudeness. I asked about some salting to footpaths after a sharp frost and I was told that it was the resposibility of the "owners" to maintain the access. It was "explained" to me that " If Macdonalds were to put down grit then they would be accepting liability .". A forty foot tree blew down in the night brushing the chalet. Reception staff seemed surprised that I thought worth mentioning to them and didn't know who would be responsible for any damage caused. Certainly not them!
A very capable and personable young man called Leonardo runs the restaurant which was excellent except for the poor quality wine which was ridiculously expensive, about five time the price of the food as we bought it by the glass.
The time spent away from the resort was quite interesting with dramatic changes in weather but we won't want to return.

Room Tip: Don't go to a chalet

Just got back from a week at spey valley, although cold and damp, the accomadation was top draw,we stayed in a patio unit, one of the done up ones.clean and tidy, and spacious.I was a bit suprised that no maid service providing clean towels mid week. Nice views from the up stairs living room. We made good use of the pool and jacuzzi, scottish steak club was very good, and enjoyable.upon leaving i thought the electric charge a bit steep at over £50 would have considered a round of golf, as it was free to guests, but at £15 each for the club hire, decided against it. i know its november and cold outside and the electric bill was steep That aside, all in all, we all had a good relaxing time. Just make sure you dont lose your spare door key or little plastic tickets for pool towels, or you'll be in for even more charges.Just relax.....

Visited to go swimming as we were staying in neighbouring accommodation with a guest pass for Country Club facilities. Been to this place a number of occasions in previous years and always enjoyed our time. However this time was different. First of all...they no longer provide towels for non-residential guests (the only 'Country Club' I've ever been to who employ such a policy). Then the swimming aids were almost ripped from our kids hands as 'splash time' was over. After complaining to the management, one of the bouyancy aids was reluctantly 'flung' back at our little one while the other children in the pool looked on enviously, while holding back the tears. When we were finished, we retired to the changing rooms for some almost lukewarm showers.

Had planned to stay for lunch and drinks but decided that we would not even spend a penny (either way) in this place, with the attitude of some members of staff. Will I be back...not even with the free guest membership. Hilton at Colyumbridge Next time for me.

I booked a three night stay for myself, my 16 month old daughter and a friend. We checked in at the main hotel and were given instructions and a wee map to help us find our chalet.

First impressions were good. The chalet seemed clean, the kitchen was small but had everything we needed, and there was a table and chairs in a small conservatory, which proved to be a lovely wee place to spend an evening!

We had unpacked the car before we checked out the sleeping arrangements. I was expecting a twin room and a double. What we found was a double room and a small room with two sets of bunk beds. Unfortunately, for my friend, the travel cot didn't fit in the bunk room so I got the double! ;) She said that the beds in the bunk room were comfy, but that there wasn't any space for moving around in the room. Had I known that a bunk room was an option, I would have requested a chalet with a twin room instead.

Other than this, we had a great stay. The location was great, the staff seemed very friendly and the area peaceful, and safe for my little one to explore.

We didn't use any of the hotel facilities, but the pool looked good and will definitely be a place we visit when we come back for another holiday.
