Description: We use some of Scotland's best local produce to create healthy, wholesome & interesting food with a Kiwi twist. We opened our doors in 2004 and have been gaining awards and accolades for our antipodean style coffees, delicious breakfasts, superb lunches & fresh home baking ever since. Our service is friendly & casual with a professional team from all over the world. The café offers excellent views of the Cairngorm Mountains - enjoy our balcony area during summer and the cosy log burner to sit by during the winter months. All the pictures are of our food - why not come in and sample our hospitality when you are in the area next?

“Great lunch”
Reviewed 17 May 2014 via mobile

A trip to Aviemore isn't the same without a visit to Mountain Cafe. We went for lunch on our last day and were not disappointed with the food. The kiddies lunch is great for wee ones with a wrap, fruit (Apple, grapes, blueberries & strawberries), yoghurt, cheese& bit of cake & marshmallows. I had corn pancakes & feta stack which is lovely & other half had a wrap. Food was so good. Service however wasn't as good with no one checking if everything was ok/ if we needed anything else or clearing the empty plates after finishing.

You do get the feeling of not being settled as there are people waiting on the stairs for tables. However the staff do not hurry you out. The service although not bad was not what it should be given the exceptional food.

“Queued but worth the wait”

A varied and unusual menu. The four of us had different meals and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

“What a display”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

Admittedly it was only a coffee and cake break but what a superb break it was. The selection here simply could not be beaten....something indeed to suit every taste. No wonder the place was busy but there still was definite attention to detail, excellent coffee and in all a very enjoyable experience

“The early bird does catch the worm”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

After a very early rise to visit the RSPB, we arrived in Aviemore about 08:30 more than ready for a breakfast. Wandering along the main street, all the cafe's were closed. Then we reached the Mountain Café with an open at 08:30 sign so went in to give it a try. Although it has many tables, more were already taken which was very surprising for this time of morning. A very good selection on the breakfast menu and they also cater for gluten-free. The breakfast was very nice with prompt service. Now having seen the reviews on this site, I understand why it gets such a high rating.
Other cafe's take note; if you work the hours, you get the business.
