Description: We use some of Scotland's best local produce to create healthy, wholesome & interesting food with a Kiwi twist. We opened our doors in 2004 and have been gaining awards and accolades for our antipodean style coffees, delicious breakfasts, superb lunches & fresh home baking ever since. Our service is friendly & casual with a professional team from all over the world. The café offers excellent views of the Cairngorm Mountains - enjoy our balcony area during summer and the cosy log burner to sit by during the winter months. All the pictures are of our food - why not come in and sample our hospitality when you are in the area next?

“Gluten-free haven on the road north”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Lengthy road trip north, with Aviemore providing a suitable stopping off point. With two coeliacs in the family, eating out anywhere, particularly when on the road, can be problematic. However, the Mountain Cafe passes the "gluten-free friendly" test with flying colours every time. The menu is well marked up for all dietary requirements and they also take great care to avoid cross-contamination when preparing the food (which has spoiled many a meal out at less careful establishments). Top marks for food and service (taking into account the inevitable queue at lunchtime) - thanks again.

“Super cakes & scones”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

Stopped for a scone & tea after walking the Speyside Way from Boat of Garten. The scone was delicious and served with delicious ,homemade raspberry jam. The cakes and homebaking looked a real treat but we resisted this time! Just perfect refuel stop for the lovely walk back to Boat of Garten. Very busy on a weekday morning which shows it is a popular cafe

“Disappointed in staff attitude”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

Myself and friends went here on recommendation from a local. We were informed we could be seated but at different tables which was not a problem for us. However, we were then left to stand on the stairs and were blatantly ignored for some time. After discussion and the assumption we were wasting our time we walked out and went to Papa Rock and were seated straight away. I could understand if we were a rowdy bunch however we simply wanted a bite to eat for lunch. Won't be back!

“worth waiting for..”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

Worth waiting in a queue for a table,( loads of local ads to read) But every table has a stunning view of the Cairngorms and the food was excellent. We didn't sample the cakes, but they too looked spectacular! Will definitely re- visit....

“Excellent fresh and delicious food”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

We stopped off in Aviemore on our way to Inverness. We didn't have high expectations, but were surprised by an excellent lunch. I had the smoked haddock and salmon chowder and my husband chose a tuna and dill mayonnaise sandwich. Both were excellent, the bread was delicious and the portions very generous. Good coffee too. We were impressed that the menu showed details of allergens (gluten, dairy etc) and indicated which recipes could be adapted.
We arrived at a busy lunchtime and were warned that our meals might take some time. Our coffees turned up very quickly and the food within 15 minutes so we were very impressed with the kitchen. Definitely a recommended lunch stop!
