Went to spey lodge for my 40th birthday celebrations.amazing.Cannot fault the lodge, from its idyllic settings. Set in the middle of the Rothemurchis estate. The sound of wildlife outside your front door.A deer even came to say hello. The lodge itself is fantastic.Plenty of space and all the modern facilities you could need.We went and did some pottery at Penny's pots.great fun.Amazing walks, right on your door step. All in all a fantastic way to spend my birthday.highly recommend.

Stayed here for a long weekend this July. Can't fault a thing, beautiful location tucked away in woodland yet only a short drive to all the amenities of Aviemore. Spey lodge itself is amazing, very clean with a lovely large modern kitchen and a view to die for. ( We spotted a deer standing overlooking us whilst eating breakfast one morning - just magical). We were a group of adults but I would love to come back with my family as it would be an ideal place for kids to stay too.

Not often I'm at a loss for words but the accommodation, surroundings and location are amazing. This must be one of the most idyllic spots in Scotland if not in the UK. My husband and I took along our two grandchildren for a long weekend and they loved it. We hired bikes and cycled to loch an Eileen on a beautiful sunny day. The girls were paddling in the loch with snow topped mountains in the background - no mobile phones, no iPads WONDERFUl. The lodge itself is amazing, spacious and very well equipped and a pleasure to stay in. If you want peace with home comforts this is for you.

Reviewed 20 February 2012

Spent Feb half term week there with wife, four kids (aged 6-12) and in-laws (brave, I know) and it is just the best combination of accommodation, location, fittings and price I have come across. We have done Youth Hostels, B&Bs, etc. but this place is the answer. I am loath to recommend it too much as it might mean it gets booked up and we can't go back! The privacy, equipment (top of the range fridge, oven, sound system, wifi, DVD players in all bedrooms, great drying facilities for ski kit etc.), setting and convenience add up to the perfect place to stay for winter, and is probably great in summer too. A few things - watch out for the wooden floors, they are a bit slippery in socks (the kids all fell over in their exuberance to explore the place), the pillows are a little hard and Tesco's don't know where it is so if you are ordering groceries to be delivered you have to talk them in - if you can get a phone signal!

Great accommodation - newly renovated property with lovely living area and open plan kitchen, set in the heart of Rothiemercus forest, but only minutes (by car) to Aviemore. Totally secluded with wild-life literally on the door step- we saw a pine martin, fallow deer etc.
Great accommodation which has been recently renovated- we felt it gave great value for money.
Loved the TV projector with Sky- great after skiing.
Would definately book again
