Description: The Druie takes its name from the burn(river) that rushes behind the restaurant and always seems in a hurry to carry clear, sparkling mountain water from the Cairngorms to the River Spey. We are open daily 9.30am - 5.00pm for locally roasted coffee, locally sourced tasty lunches, leaf teas and delicious homemade cakes, with a focus on dishes prepared from lovingly home produced beef from our pedigree herd of Highland cattle, our velvety venison from the ancient forest of Rothiemurchus and seasonal produce from specialist producers, served in a relaxed, friendly environment. Whilst enjoying your coffee or lunch at the Druie, you can enjoy the exhibition of local artwork which changes each month, especially selected by Ellie, who manages the Gallery at Loch an Eilein and is also a member of Creative Cairngorms.

“Great Food!”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

Went on the recommendation of a friend following a bit of hill walking - when we arrived at around 1230, the place was packed (mostly locals from the look of it - always a good sign).
We went into the attached shop planning to come back in a few minutes when it had maybe emptied a bit, when we came back we discovered that one of the restaurant team was taking names for a queue of waiting diners, unfortunately we were now a bit further down the list as we didn't know it was happening, but went for a wander and came back.
Food was well worth the wait - service was good and the atmosphere was excellent - relaxed and chatty.
Main recommendation - if its full, see if you can get your name on the list!

“Food great, service poor”
Reviewed 12 October 2013 via mobile

Repeat visit since food usually great. Service poor however and let's down what is otherwise a lovely place. Queued as directed but it was as if we were invisible. Had to get menus. Only when went to counter did anyone take any notice of us. Advised it was table service! Waiter served party arriving after us first and then got order wrong. Takes shine off what is otherwise great food.

“Excellent tea room”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

Didn't have time for any activities but stopped for coffee and a scone. Absolutely delightful coffee and lovely home made scone with home made raspberry jam - delicious. Bit of a scone connoisseur and these were very good.

“Delight at The Druie”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

This restaurant is just one of the many attractions and activities that contribute to a great day out in Rothiemurchus in the Badenoch and Strathspey region of the Highlands of Scotland.

The food is great and there is a selection ranging from excellent sandwiches to full meals at lunchtime and the restaurant is also open for dinner. Soups are really good with a special mention of Cullen Skink, a Moray coast speciality consisting of smoked haddock and potatoes in a creamy liquid. Mmmm. The aforementioned sandwiches are full of flavour, generously filled and use mainly local ingredients. There is a good selection of the local Cairngorm Brewery beers to wash down the food.

In summer, we often eat outside but today, we chickened out and ate in the small but welcoming dining room. Staff are attentive, friendly and efficient. This is definitely one not to miss!

“Don't miss the shop”
Reviewed 3 October 2013 via mobile

Didn't actually eat here but visited the farm shop. Best venison I have ever tasted. Great range of produce. Go here before any ever else. Staff are welcoming and friendly too.
