“Beautiful setting, nice hotel”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 via mobile

Stayed here visiting the Highlands and truly enjoyed it. Rooms are a decent size, we had two standard rooms and one suite.

The breakfast Buffett is free for Diamond members as well as internet access. The food in both the breakfast and hotel lounge is quite nice.

I would recommend this location and look forward to staying here again in the future. Nicely located for visits to the surrounding countryside and highlands. Terrific friendly staff that make you feel right at home.

We stay in the lodges and have done for 6 years now. The lodges are clean and well maintained and our one has just been renovated. We get full use of the hotel services during our stay, this includes the pool and gym. The pool area and changing facilities are in desperate need of upgrading but the kids don't mind and wanted to go swimming everyday! Comfortable lounge area and the evening entertainment is ok. Overall the hotel service is great and great for for the whole family. Can't wait to go back next year.

Stayed here for 2 nights! Surprised on arrival to find the hotel does not have a lift! Struggling up 2 flights of stairs with a suitcase was not a good start. When I tried to boom dinner I was told the restaurant was fully booked and was offered family dining at 5.30pm! No thanks! I had room service instead only to find that the staff member climbed up two flights of stairs with my dinner on an open uncovered plate. The various prices are extortionate and the bar area is full of children running wild. The breakfast was the best part of the stay really. The main areas of the hotel are freshly decorated and modern the bedrooms are in need of some TLC. The staff were all lovely and no complaints there. I wouldn't go back to this hotel mainly as it's a family hotel.

Room Tip: If you have mobility issues ask for a ground floor room as no lifts here!

Thank you for your review and was sorry to read of your disappointment. Our property which was built in the 1960's, was not designed with a lift nor are there any plans to install one. 75% of our rooms are on the ground and first floors and we offer a porterage service which is available 24/7. We are a family resort hotel and expect to be busy with families and children particularly at weekends and school holiday periods.

We are two adults plus two children aged 7/9 who stayed for three nights in one of the suites. Great facilities, stunning scenery with plenty activities to keep the kids amused. Enjoyable overall stay with no major complaints, buffet dinner menu great for adults but a bit lacking for very young children.

Lots of things to do and got a good deal for dinner and breakfast. Good sized family room with separate sleeping area for kids. No A/C in room but there were fans placed with did help. Breakfast was great and the usuaal Hilton buffet style - best to get down around 8.30 whilst it's still quiet. However, dinner was another matter and needs a rethink. Up to 6.30pm, families can go with the pizza buffet (Italian dining). The Italian family dining was a great option as we had 2 children (9yrs and 5yrs) with us. However, the hotel needs to look at the dining experience and where food is laid out. All starters/soups/mains are in one area so you had to queue. We queued for over 20 minutes and took starters/mains & soup all at the one time to avoid queueing again. The pizzas were running out very quick and understandably, when you have to queue that long, you end up carrying as much as you again to avoid joining the queue again much to the annoyance of other people queueing. By the time we got to the pizza shelf, there were no pizzas so had to wait again. Children are very fussy eaters so the chefs continuing to make pizzas with vegetables didn't go down well - all children in the queue just wanted pepperoni or cheese/tomato. I had to tell the chef to start making straightforward pizzas to speed things up. Desserts were good and the ice cream kept the kids amused. This dining experience could be great if some changes are made - have two pizza shelfs and separating the starters. Overall we had an average dinner, disappointed as I was expecting better.

Stayed in a family suite for 2 night DB&B. Chose this over the other big resort hotel in the area.

Check in felt like we were on a conveyor belt with the receptionist basically going through the motions of her mental checklist. We were asked if we had booked in for dinner that night - which we hadn't. There was a choice of family Italian style buffet at 5pm or set menu dinner at 8.45pm. With an 8 year old 8.45 is certainly too late to eat. We went for the family buffet option.

The buffet was ok with selection of pizza, pasta with either tomato or cheese sauce, fish, pork and meatball options. A few choices for desert. Again nothing special. We ordered 3 diet cokes and about fell off our seat at the cost of £9 for this. Ask for draft it's much cheaper!! No labels on the food to tell you what it actually was....I got a strange look for asking what the potato dish had in it. Also no allergy information either (Son is allergy sufferer)

The room & bathroom were clean with clean bedding and towels. They certainly need to update these. The bunk beds look like something out of a youth hostel not a hilton hotel.

The facilities like the Funhouse and outdoor activity area close around 5pm so if you hope to have something to do in resort after dinner....don't bother its all closed. A tad disappointing especially in high summer season.

Breakfast was good with lots of choice of cooked breakfast and continental. Felt sorry for the poor chef who had to try to make up multiple orders for fresh pancakes using a single small frying pan. He certainly kept cheery throughout his ordeal at his waiting audience....maybe a investment in a larger griddle pan would help this situation.

The Bistro meal on our second night was great. First class service and food. £16 allowance for your DB&B so you may need to pay a little extra but well worth it. Again no allergy information and my son had a vanilla cheese cake for desert which he loved...only after a minute or 2 his mouth started to swell. We ran upstairs for his medication whilst husband asked for ingredients. It contained granola in the base so basically everything he is allergic to. Thankfully we didn't have to use the epipen and it settled with his inhaler and piriton. I had actually asked earlier for bread with no sesame seeds due to his allergy but we can't expect the waiting staff to know all the ingredient so a note on the menu would be a good start.

In summary: Good base for families exploring the area and looking for clean but basic accommodation. The dinning areas are very modern and pleasant but food description and allergy info could be displayed. Oh and you have to pay for Wi fi unless you have some gold Hilton honours account which in my mind is them just getting more money from you. You can get comp Wi-Fi in the main lobby so why not go that extra mile for the quest experience and give it throughout the hotel like most other chains do.

Thank you for your review on your stay and for your feedback. We currently do offer free WiFi throughout the hotel including guest bedrooms although guests can upgrade for a charge if they wish. Unfortunately at the current time it is not available in the Fun House. We also offer Kid Activities for children aged 5 years and over (free of charge) each evening, these are subject to demand but to date have been running every evening throughout the school holidays

Allergy information is available on all of our menus and it is recommended that guests who suffer from any allergy bring this to the attention of their waiter/waitress.

Stayed for 2nd time at Hilton Coylumbridge and in answer to being accused of lying by the Guest relations manager comment from our last review - the Inverdruie restaurant was most definitely shut - 22nd Jan! Couldn't re-review until months after we stayed this time!!

This stay was better in some ways as we booked a suite which was fairly recently refurbished and worth the extra money compared to the tiny and old 4'6 double we had last time. The restaurant food was good (but see below) and the staff too with a special mention for Anca and Kahlir (apologies if spelt wrong) who were excellent.

On the down side the wrong food was delivered on the first night and we were then also charged extra for food we didn't have, the coffee prices vary throughout the hotel and you get charged a different amount to that written in the menu anyway (but both extra charges were removed on querying). 2nd night our food was delivered to another table. It was good food, just like it to be in front of me!

The menu is small and good, but frequently 1-2 items were not available. As it's a small menu it should all be there - or do a special (for a bit of variety).

Breakfast is plentiful but again brown bread ran out and there was none in the hotel on a couple of mornings.

As a family hotel, kids are expected, but there should also be adult only areas (e.g. The bar and part of the restaurant) and times - kids meal times seem to be all night and all over the restaurant, foyer eating area and the bar. The toilets and urinals in the foyer are also very low - all of them!

The suite had an interconnecting door to the next door room and you can hear absolutely everything through it (both ways).

Thank your for taking the time to post your review. With regard to adults only areas our Woodshed Bar does not allow children after 8pm and the Restaurant, if numbers allow, do try and keep the raised area, The Druie Room, child free. As with all of our valued guests, families can choose to dine at whichever time is suitable although many choose our Family Dining option.
