I have stayed at this hotel two times within the past 2 months. Really good hotel with many spare time facilities. Hotel is situated in an area of really beautiful nature. High food level taken in consideration that they are serving the great tourist masses. However the rooms need an update and the free internet access is too poor

My wife and I have just returned from a short break at this hotel. We are both retired and have stayed at this hotel previously. We are aware that this hotel is family orientated as it advertises this fact. If people come to the hotel and have not done their homework, then that is their problem. Yes there were kids running about enjoying themselves but they are on holiday. They should be having a good time.
As far as we are concerned, this hotel is very good value for money. We are Hilton gold members and have stayed at the brands hotels all over the world. Some are better than others, but that is the same with every hotel chain.
Check-in was excellent. The room was clean and suited our needs. Breakfast was very good. We did not eat dinner in the hotel as we prefer to dine in Aviemore. All staff were very polite, smiling and attentive.
Will be returning here in the autumn.

Nice hotel, very family friendly in that there are loads of kids of all ages and a relaxed lounge area but on a DBB, you have to pay for all kids meals if they are between 10 and 18 (even breakfast) - not something that was explained to me when I booked either th restaurant or the breakfast and ended up costing me about £80

Stayed here for 4 nights in a suite room with kids aged 12 and 13. Have stayed here before when kids are younger. Hotel was full and to be honest there were no earl issues with young kids running around. We didn't spend much time in the foyer area and opted to go to the woodshed bar and sit in the glorious sunshine and have a beer. Kids wee happy in room with wi-fi. We booked the bistro for a meal on first night and found it to be average and decided to try main restaurant the following evening. We were very surprised ! The food was excellent and the staff were fabulous . Special thanks to Adrian and Laura from the Westney Isles. All of the staff are to be praised for excellent customer service.
As out children were older we dined in a separate area away from the mayhem of screaming children. We had breakfast around 9am and didn't find this a very busy time. We ate at 8pm when most young families had been already.
The suite room was very clean and absolutely fine for what was really a place to sleep. The view was of the flat roof of the hotel and there was a noisy extractor fan . There is no air con in the room and fans were provided. Ear plugs are a must !
We didn't use the pool as weather was so hot we swam in Loch Morlich. My husband had a thai massage at he spa and would recommend as he felt fantastic afterwards.

To conclude hotel is good for families, wouldn't go there as a couple or for any kind of romantic break!

Room Tip: Book a room facing back of hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review and will ensure that your comments will be passed to those team members mentioned. Outwith school holidays we do have quieter periods which may suit couples and the hotel can be contacted at any time to enquire as to the number of children expected in the hotel at any time.

I booked this Hilton in a desperate attempt to escape a terrible hotel in Inverness, and found this one to be just one step above. Upon arrival I realized we were in trouble with hundreds of children running through the lobby and the adjacent restaurant. If you have young to teenage children, this may be the place for you, but not having any, it was definitely not a place we wanted to be. The hotel room was clean but was showing a lot of wear with little upkeep. The accommodations in the room were very basic and certainly not what we expected from a Hilton Hotel. Due to our late arrival, room service was the only option for a hot meal, and unfortunately the food was sub-par. The following morning we had breakfast in the restaurant which was satisfactory despite the hundreds of kids running around. One positive note was that all hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating and went out of their way to be friendly. Unfortunately that doesn't make up for the shortcomings of the property.

Room Tip: Avoid this unless you have young kids that would enjoy this type of property

Enjoyed a 4 night stay at this hotel. Booked the dinner bed and breakfast deal and our 5 year old son could eat free.

Price:
was good and much cheaper than other options we looked at from self-catering holidays. Staff were very friendly and helpful apart from one guy who didn't look like he wanted to be there, but this did not spoil our stay.

Room:
was nice and the beds were comfy. Some noise from other rooms, but not bad, as when checking out the facilities this hotel is aimed at young families so there are a few kids around.
From reading other reviews of this Hotel some people have complained about the hotel being dated, busy with kids and having to queue for breakfast and dinner. I think this is a bit unfair as you get what you pay for and more. If you're looking for luxury and fancy finishes this is not the place to go. Saying that it is far from Haven or Butlins style holidays and it is much cleaner and better kept.

Food:
was good and had alot to choose from, soups/ salads/ pizza, pasta, puddings and ice-cream. We used the main dinning hall area where all food, not drinks, (except water) was included in the price. There is an option to use other dinning areas with a £16 allowance but this only pays for one main meal as the menus are expensive. All dinning must be booked and we recommend you pre-book dinner before arriving a couple of days in advance. Times from 17:30-21:00. The problem we found with using this service was we had to cut our days out short to be back in time for dinner. We tried using the Foyer area where booking is not required, but it would have taken over 1 hour to be served, so went to Aviemore for dinner. Breakfast is served 7:30-10:00. 9-10am seemed to be the busiest times, so worth getting up a bit earlier.

Facilities :
were good and more to do when the weather is dry. Play park is a good size for small children and there is a tennis/ basket ball court. The Outdoor Zone is not bad but only kept our Son occupied for half a hour. Swimming pool is small but a good enough size for kids to have fun with a separate swimmers pool. Our son enjoyed the swimming the most with no need to book, just turn up apart for adult only swimming from 5-6:30pm. Changing rooms however are very small with no family changing options only male and female changing areas. Can be a bit awkward when it gets busy as there is only one bench in the male changing room. Our son enjoyed the Fun House arcade, putting and pool table. Rates are reduced for residents of the Hotel.

Things to do:
outside of the Hotel grounds were good. We visited Landmark which we spent the whole day at. The Funicular railway is very over priced and would not recommend a young child to go as there is not alot to do. If adults are going walking or to take photographs it's fine and maybe better during the snowy season but young kids might find it boring. Horse riding at Carrbridge pony trekking was good and reasonably priced. The local Rothimurcus site would only do a small trek for children under 8 yrs old so we opted for the longer more value for money Carrbridge option. Grass sledging near Loch Morlich was fun as was the Loch on a nice day.
Loch Ness visitor centre was good but a hour drive from the hotel.

Room Tip: Only from small young families Book dinner early Go for breakfast before 9am Once would be enough...

Great that the kids are catered for but the areas for adults need some attention. Overall bit shabby and overpriced. Pool etc in real need of some upgrading. You could be anywhere but at least 5mins out of hotel you know you are in the Highlands. Staff friendly and helpful!
