“Couldn't see a thing but loved it”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

We took the funicular railway up to the ptarmigan restaurant at the top of the mountain on a very very wet afternoon. We all thought it was great. The journey up was only 8 minutes and we could not see a thing through the low cloud and driving rain. The displays and café at the top are good and although we could barely see more than a few feet I think the whole experience was wonderful.

“Wonderful experience!”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

We so enjoyed taking the funicular railway up and down the mountain. We took the first trip of the day on what was a wonderful sunny day. Wonderful mug of hot chocolate at the top too. Excellent value for money. Many thanks.

“You are NOT allowed out of the building at the top of the funicular railway.”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

On reaching the top we were told we could not leave the building to walk to the top of the mountain. Eco reasons stated. We were not informed of this at the bottom, nor was there any information stating this anywhere we could find. There is a path made of granite boulders to the top! We would have walked up if we had known this was not possible as it's not that arduous. The dog had to stay in the car as it was not allowed up and was too old to make this trip. No dogs are allowed up the railway, but they are allowed down???
All in all a disappointing experience. Walk up, if you want to see the very top, you can get the train down (with your dog) if you pay for this at the bottom.

“Mountain Bike”
Reviewed 23 August 2014 via mobile

Took the guided mountain bike descent from Ridge to River. Fantastic experience and excellent value for money. All equipment supplied. Our guide Jono was excellent. Will definitely do it again next year. As always in the Cairngorms make sure you have waterproof and warm clothing, even in the summer.

“Recommended - especially if time is short”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

It would have been great to walk up but our hectic schedule didn't allow it. However, the mountain railway was a nice ride and then enabled us to have amazing views at the top. A decent exhibition, nice food and several reindeer nearby too. Hope to come back in the winter!
