We happened into this guest house when the neighboring guesthouse had vacancies for "room only" no breakfast, the first place we tried was very rude about not having a twin room or space for us at breakfast, so we tried Ravenscraig right next door and were met with such a warm welcome it was lovely.

We stayed in a chalet room in the rear of the property which were spacious and modern, so quiet off the main road, chickens in the fence of the parking area were not too noisy in the morning due to lack of a rooster. Plenty of room to park our rental car. Breakfast was very large, we didn't, take everything offered and still it was too much.

Room Tip: The chalet rooms have holiday lights that blink outside the window all night, you have to draw the d...

A very warm welcome from the mother of the owner who was away. Beautifully furnished room (#5), with very nice soft furnishings etc and a comfy bed. Good ensuite shower room too. Breakfast was ample and excellent. Only a 5 minute walk from the High St too.

The complimentary breakfast was beautifully presented, classy and tasty.

We've stayed a couple of times at Ravenscraig while visiting family who live in Aviemore and on both occasions we've received a very warm welcome from Jonathan. We've just returned from our second stay for two nights and enjoyed it as much, if not more, than our first!

Our first stay was in one of the chalets at the back of the property which are probably a little more spacious than one of the front bedrooms we stayed in this time around, but never-the-less, both rooms and en-suites are stylishly decorated, very comfortable, well equipped and very clean. The plus to staying in a room (No.5) at the front of the house is that you get a wonderful view of the Cairngorm Mountains - a real treat as the sun sets and also again when you open the blinds first thing in the morning!

Beds are not as firm as we'd prefer (personal preference - I'm sure many like a slightly softer mattress would have no problem at all), but still comfortable and the bedlinen is good quality which all goes a long way towards a very good night's sleep and a restful stay.

Breakfast offers a wide choice - great range of cereals, fresh fruit, fruit salad, white & wholemeal toast and Jonathan's homemade marmelade - try it, it's truly delicious! We also tried the delicious (and none greasy) full traditional Scottish breakfast (with plenty of flexibility to accomodate all diets and tastes!), Poached eggs (eggs not laid by the chickens in the outside pen, but we were confidently assured were local & free range) and smoked salmon on muffins (a lovely, tasty way to start the day!), alternatively the homemade porridge with berry fruit compote, seeds, honey or plain is also a real treat and will certainly set you up for a day's exploring and activity!

The lounge with it's open fire (lit in the colder months), cosy rugs, antique style furniture, plus welcoming resident cat Milly(!), make for a great place to relax and chill out either after breakfast or after a day's skiing, hiking or cycling!

Overall a very welcoming place to stay in a charming traditional style house which is very restful and relaxing with delicious breakfasts. You couldn't wish for anymore from a B&B!

Room Tip: Chalets offer a little more space. Room No.5 is a little smaller, but has great views of the Cairngo...

If this place had a restaurant and bar, it would be a hotel charging twice as much. It's a traditional Scottish house, right on the main street, close to everything one needs. Parking was easy. The staff are fun, helpful and attentive. The downstairs lounge is cosy, with traditional furniture and decorations, and a big log fire. Our twin, ensuite room was clean and modern, with stylish fixtures and fttings. The shower worked well as did the flat-screen TV. The cooked breakfast, served in the conservatory, was the best I'd ever tasted! Not cheap, for a B&B, but worth every penny.

Room Tip: We chose to stay in the house, as it was very quaint, rather than in a chalet to the rear.

We stayed at the Ravenscraig for 2 nights in late March 2013. Our bedroom was warm, clean and comfortable. The guest house was peaceful and relaxing and very good value for money. The breakfasts include really good bacon, sausages and black pudding! Easy walking distance from the shops etc. We will definitely stay here again when in Aviemore.

Room Tip: If you don't want to hear any traffic, ask for a rear facing room.
