“Absolute Perfection!”
Reviewed 27 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Loch an Eilein Cottage surpassed all our expectations (and they were pretty high after looking at the amazing pictures online!) - from the minute we arrived we fell in love with the place. The location is breathtaking with great views across the loch, the cottage is beautifully decorated with a lovely use of light and space and the wildlife on the doorstep is just amazing. Having breakfast and watching red squirrels playing in the trees outside while hearing nothing but the birds is the best way to start any day. What's also great about the cottage is that everything you could possibly need has been thought about - a wine chiller, plenty of firewood for the wood burning fire, board games or TV for entertainment (not that we switched it on once!), all kitchen equipment and utensils - everything of a very high standard. There's even a Jacuzzi bath with a TV (this one was switched on - just because it has to be done!).
If you do ever feel like venturing out from the comfort of the cottage there are many places to visit nearby on the Rothiemurchus Estate/Cairngorms - Loch Morlich, the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre and the Cairngorm Funicular are all very close by and we highly recommend the cake at the Inshriach Nursery. A walk around Loch an Eilein is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. Inverness/The Black Isle/Nairn/Glencoe/Fort William are also not too far if you want to explore further afield.
We will hopefully be back at the cottage in the near future - it's simply an amazing place and a week went by so quickly. The hospitality from the owners/management is outstanding - Judith did everything to make us feel welcome. (Thank you for helping make our day a very special one, in a perfect setting!).

“Unbeatable”

It is impossible to use enough superlatives to do the cottage justice, it is simply amazing.

Not only is beautifully decorated, and finished to the very highest of standards, but it sits in an astonishing setting, one that you cannot put a price on. Everyone passing expressed their envy to the wonderful location, it really is the ultimate in tranquility. As it is the only occupied cottage on the lake, and you have to go through a gate to reach it, you have your own lake, a bit different to my normal life!

To top it all off you are 5 mins from Aviemore, with all the amenities you need for a perfect holiday.

I proposed whilst we were there, there really is nowhere better to make yourself look like the perfect romantic!

“Away from the world, but a five minute drive from Aviemore”

The cottage was perfect and exactly what we needed, nothing around but beautiful scenery, the birds and the squirrels (you wouldn't believe that you can be at Tesco within a five minute drive of somewhere that feels so away from it all !). There are lots of walks from the door and the feeling of being back to nature was great, but with the luxury of the cottage to return to and relax in peace. Even the locals were friendly (see attached photos). The cottage has everything you could need, with a lovely welcome pack and no cars to see for the whole stay.

So good we have booked the same week again next year.

“Perfect in every way”
Reviewed 25 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We wanted to have a relaxing week away from work and the hustle and bustle of daily life and we found the most perfect place to stay.

With views of the Loch and nestled in the ancient forest you are surrounded by wildlife - deer, red squirrel, crested tits and more. The cottage has been renovated to an exceptional standard with everything you need and a good hamper with local produce. It is light and airy but also very cosy. The cottage has a log fire, window seats and plenty of books and magazines to enjoy after being outside in the beautiful countryside.

The Autumnal colours were stunning and we sat out in the calm still evenings listening to the rutting stags roaring and bellowing.

If you are looking for peace and tranquillity this is the place for you. We returned home and booked again immediately for next year.

“The most relaxing & idyllic luxurious cottage - perfect in every way”
Reviewed 20 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

The cottage is absolutely beautiful & so luxurious, there's been real attention paid to detail, it's stylish, comfortable & relaxing. It's extremely well-equipped with everything you could ever need. Lovely touches like a hamper filled with fabulous goodies including wine, beer, shortbread, chocolates & nibbles (even dog treats!) as well as milk, coffee, tea & numerous other things you would usually need to take to a self-catering cottage.

The lounge is so comfortable with a fabulous armchair, big sofa & lots of cushions. I loved the window seats in the lounge & kitchen, you could look at the beautiful views for hours. I didn't use the wood-burning stove as it was very warm weather but the fact that it's double-sided to the bedroom will be wonderful at chillier times.

The bed is the comfiest I've ever slept in & the pillows are amazing (so much so I want to buy the same ones for home!) & the bed linen is of the highest quality. The bathroom is beautiful with a brilliant shower & whirlpool bath not to mention gorgeous Highland Soap Company products. There's even a tv to watch whilst you're in the bath!

There's a great selection of books & magazines as well as information on the local area which is beautiful with an abundance of things to do. The immediate surroundings are simply stunning with lots of lovely walks around the loch & views to die for. Sitting on the bench at the front of the cottage overlooking the loch is beautiful & so peaceful.

All in all, it's one of those places you never want to leave. Thank you for a wonderful weekend, I would highly recommend anyone looking for a relaxing, luxurious break to come & stay at the cottage, it would be impossible not to love it.
