Spent a week at the Slaters Arms staying in one of their log cabins, had a great week, the location is excellent and the pub serves Cairngorm beer and great food, especially the curries, homemade by the landlady, the pizzas are better than any ive had in an Italian restaurant. We have booked for later this year and next year aswell. This is a great place to stay in you have dogs, as dogs are most welcome

After a long trip up from Gateshead yesterday, and having suffered a puncture in Inverness, 11 of us arrived at this Pub at about 8.40pm having seen signs in the village of a warm welcoming atmosphere and food served all day. With only about 6 other customers in there the bar man initially ignored us. Then when we enquired about food he made some comment about bar crisps. Then eventually he went to the kitchen to see what could be done and came back with a small selection to offer. But he was so "inconvenienced" by us that we left. He missed out on about £500 over the next two days. At least we know now to book elsewhere in the future.

Fine pub meal, particularly enjoyed the house wine, and very grateful for the map and book provided by the host. Would happily return.

We just went there for food on a Friday night after a long walk. The food was average (Buggers and chips, no fish on the menu) and nothing seemed to be home made at all. Not many beer on tap. It could be because it was end of February, and therefore the Pub wasn't expecting many people. It might be better during Spring or Summer. But overall we were a bit disapointed and won't go back there again during the low season.

Just returned from our stay at Cougie Lodge and feel completely recharged. We found the accommodation to be clean and spacious and with every thing we needed. The cabin was also toasty warm which is what you need for Winter in the Highlands. The owners of the cabins also own the pub (literally a minutes walk) and so we ate there for an evening and the food was very good- haddock was extremely fresh and steak I was told was cooked perfectly. Local beer is very good and the white wine is also very enjoyable. A couple of Glen Ord's by their roaring fire finished the evening and then a very short trundle down to the toasty warm cabin -Bliss! Thank you Scott and Angela for your friendly welcome, your help when asked about local sightseeing (which is breathtaking- wow Blodau Falls- just wow!) and care and attention you take with your hospitality and dining experience. We will be back for sure.
