“Lovely staff”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

We were on a charity drive between John o'Groats, Lands End and London, as so many visitors here are... We arrived very early in the morning at JoG to find everything shut, apart from the Seaview. The staff kindly agreed to serve us breakfast, which was very welcome and reasonably priced. Only criticism is the sausages, which were very processed. I thought there'd be lots of specialist places in Scotland but there we go, worse things happen at sea. If you're passing through, do visit the Seaview, very hospitable.

Chose Seaview based on location near the North Sea in Scotland. I read some encouraging reviews but it was better than that. The location was quiet, our room was clean and comfortable, the staff was always friendly and the food was excellent. Both in the dining room and the pub (we ate breakfast three mornings, one dinner, and a snack there), we always enjoyed the food and the staff was friendly. The hotel is in a quiet area and that was perfect for us. It is convenient to the ferry for a tour of the Orkney Islands as well. We would recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

Room Tip: Rooms across the road from the main hotel building may have been quieter since they were separated f...

A very nice stay, the hotel staff was very friendly and could not be more helpful. The food was very good (evening meal and breakfast) and the room was very comfortable and warm. A refreshing break ready for a long drive south!

nice location with a warm welcome. nice view if you get the right seats. staff very friendly and attentive. place a little dated and my place mat hadn't been cleaned and still had gravy on it and we were the first customers of the night. The food filling and average. My husband got a burger and for £8.50 said it tasted like it came from a tin. My gammon was ok but tasted like it was cut off a joint that had been pre cooked. However, the table near us got an amazing meal. They were loud and locals so not sure if this helped being a regular. No prices on website so had to call up to ask what they served. Was looking forward to a hearty Scottish meal. Sadly not.

Thank you for your recent visit and time taken to review us. I am disappointed to hear that you were not completely satisfied with your experience. I would like to point out that our burgers are Mey Selections beefburgers from the local butcher as all our meat is locally supplied. Maybe if you had highlighted your concerns when you were still here we could have rectified the problem for you, as we usually have very satisfied customers. Hopefully you can return on another visit and we can give you an experience that you are happy with.

A very comfortable night was spent here, the service was good although I did not eat on this occasion as I had had a hard drive up the road to try and get back home to Orkney. The bedrooms were very adequate and warm and not noisy.

Stayed here last week for just one night, Arrived in the afternoon and was shown to a warm room clean and tidy, good shower, very pleasant welcome. Given its location I was expecting it to be cold and damp but the hotel and staff where excellent. Had a meal in the bar which was fine and served piping hot. Breakfast in the morning was also very good and well presented in the restaurant. Good value. Pleasant and helpful staff. Will return again.
