“None too impressed”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

Stayed here with a group of friends, we all had our individual issues with our stay,
My room on arrival was basic but looked adequate, upon further inspection it hadn't been cleaned, sand all over the carpet, in the bathroom and even on the window sill,
No bulb in the light over the bed, the light in the bathroom didn't work, so the only way to see what you were doing was to have the bathroom / toilet door open .....not ideal, especially as the window had no net curtain / blind / obscured glass to prevent anyone outside seeing in!!
We did complain to a young lady on reception, but nothing was done, just as well we were only staying one night,
Food was ok, nothing special, but the bar and beer were an excellent distraction from what was unfortunately a pretty poor value stay.

Thanks for your recent stay and time taken to write a review. I am sorry to hear that your stay was not favourable. I only learned of the problem after you left in the morning or we could have rectified things with the lights. I did check the carpet and could not find evidence that it had not been cleaned. We are very sorry that things were not to your liking.

stayed here on the 11th of may, on our trip around the top of Scotland. Everyone very friendly and helpful, they even tracked down a brand of whisky for us, located in Thurso. Food was great and plenty of it. Our room was situated in the building across the road which is part of the Seaview, there was a funny smell in our room, had to open window, very clean but basic room, i think a bit overpriced myself. liz and mike

Thanks for your recent stay and time taken to write a review for us. We are glad that you were happy with your stay and enjoyed the food. I am not quite sure what the smell would be that you mentioned, but we have noticed that as the furniture is solid oak, we use a special oil on it to keep it looking at its best rather than varnish and sometimes this can linger a bit, so I can only assume that this is what you experienced, I am sorry that this was the case, if you had let us know we could have looked at moving you to a different room. Hopefully we can welcome you back sometime in the future.

We stayed over in the annex , which was modern and comfortable, better than anticipated (looking at the tatty pics of the outside of the building)
Excellent hearty breakfast and evening meal.
Staff couldn't have been more friendly, Just what we needed prior to cycling from John O'Groats to Lands end
(Beer was also good)

Room Tip: Choose the annex , not sure about the main building, they stored our bikes in secure storage

Stopped off here for a lunch break whilst on a coach tour and going on that short experience would recommend it. Atmosphere was cosy and warm staff very friendly and helpful. Only had soup and sandwiches but soup was homemade and delicious , lovely and hot with as many refills as you wanted, sandwiches were well filled, tasty, and very fresh. This is definitely somewhere I would consider staying when in the area again. Well done Seaview !

We were on a charity drive between John o'Groats, Lands End and London, as so many visitors here are... We arrived very early in the morning at JoG to find everything shut, apart from the Seaview. The staff kindly agreed to serve us breakfast, which was very welcome and reasonably priced. Only criticism is the sausages, which were very processed. I thought there'd be lots of specialist places in Scotland but there we go, worse things happen at sea. If you're passing through, do visit the Seaview, very hospitable.

Chose Seaview based on location near the North Sea in Scotland. I read some encouraging reviews but it was better than that. The location was quiet, our room was clean and comfortable, the staff was always friendly and the food was excellent. Both in the dining room and the pub (we ate breakfast three mornings, one dinner, and a snack there), we always enjoyed the food and the staff was friendly. The hotel is in a quiet area and that was perfect for us. It is convenient to the ferry for a tour of the Orkney Islands as well. We would recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

Room Tip: Rooms across the road from the main hotel building may have been quieter since they were separated f...

A very nice stay, the hotel staff was very friendly and could not be more helpful. The food was very good (evening meal and breakfast) and the room was very comfortable and warm. A refreshing break ready for a long drive south!
