The Queen Mother's Castle of Mey: That was a nice visit.
At the door were were greeted by Nancy who knew QM since she was a girl. All her family farmed and worked for her. She was very pleased that the QM put the place into a charitable trust, otherwise they could have been homeless. QM used to visit the castle for a few weeks twice a year - March & August ever since she bought the place after her husband's death in 1952. All over were her personal items, photos, shoes, her favourite coat, even an outfit. In each room the guides told stories from their personal knowledge - one as a policeman. Some didn't know the QM, but spoke of Prince Charles who comes for 10 days every year and religiously does some of things that his grandmother did, even to picking a vase of sweet peas.
The views were great too.
Wheelchair access probably limited - the QM went up some tricky steps when she was 101
