What a privilege to see this lovely home. The guides are just amazing, the atmosphere and sense of calm is palpable. The view is breathtaking. The cafe area is excellent. The bus service from Thurso is brill, there is a long 'drive' to walk but this adds to the experience.

“THIS IS A COSY CASTLE”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

We hadn't been here for years, and it was one castle on my visiting list. You find it tucked away on the cliff by the sea, with the most magnificent gardens in a riot of colour.
Inside there is something very small and welcoming. It is as if the Queen Mother has just stepped out for a moment and will be back soon.
It is very personal and many private things are out. You feel you could just unpack your suitcase and live there.
HRH once described this castle as being like the bridge of a ship. You really do get the feeling you are at sea. The views are stunning, it is quant, and the staff are all very informative.
When you have wandered round the lovely gardens there is a rather nice tea room that serves all sorts of goodies. This makes a delightful day out.

“Enjoyable day out”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

I enjoyed my day out at the Castle of Mey. I did the tour in the morning and as it was such a beautiful day spent a lot of time in the walled garden. Amazing what can be grown so far north. Outside of the walled the views to Orkney were superb. Stay away from the shop as prices very expensive and in the tearoom had a coffee yuk stay away from that as well. All in all a nice day out. Nice animal park for kids and even tried my hand at spinning
