“Great views from the real northernmost point”

A car park and a lighthouse that you can't visit - that's all there is but it is still very worthwhile to visit and enjoy the views. The best place is a little further up the hill to the right of the lighthouse.
Quite why nobody we know has heard of Dunnet Head or Duncansby Head, both of which are further north than John O'Groats we don't know - maybe all those cyclists are starting from the wrong place!

“As long as the sun is shining, wonderful beauty spot.”

Great to find out this is actually the most northerly point of Britains mainland! The wild orchids were in profusion.

“Been There and Dunnet”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Wild and wonderfully remote, Dunnet Head was the final piece in my compass challenge. I'd already visited the Eastern, Southern and Western extremities of the mainland British mainland so the North was the only one left. There is a lovely 360º vista showing you what you can see and a clear day would be brill for it. A most-northerly selfie later along the wall of the lighthouse and that was everything done that there was to do. A must-visit place.

“Must visit to be at the most northerly point”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

No facilities and views are not as spectacular as at Duncansby stacks but this place is a must visit to be at the most northerly point. Interesting WW2 bunkers to look around.
