we enjoyed our stay at the cottage, it may need a bit of updating but was still enjoyable. with everything you need.. went to castle mey -lands end -dunnet head all very good and worthwile, the area is quite bleak scenery wise. otherwise
The views from the lounge, kitchen and upstairs bedrooms are just stunning. Magical to have the ocean and beach on your doorstep. As Rupert clearly states, the stairs up are very steep, so do take care. The decor is dated, but everything is functional, and the bed upstairs was comfortable enough. Swivel chair in lounge should be removed. A car is essential. We loved our time in Ackergill and Caithness, and will be back.
Stayed 6 to 10th of November the cottage was lovely and warm had everything we needed plenty of room for the 4 of us.The views from the cottage were beautiful a place to sit and watch the world go by and to make it an even more special experience we got to see the northern lights from the patio of the cottage UNFORGETTABLE.
We stayed here for 4 nights, 1st impression not great-then we saw the view. Nothing else mattered. Ok it needs a little updating but it was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The cottage was well equipped as well and although we only made breakfasts there we could have cooked a full meal as there was plenty of everything. The view is fabulous, we arrived in time for sunset which was beautiful. I even managed to get on the beach. No noise, only the sea. Perfect.
It's easy to be critical of some detailed shortcomings at this property but that easily loses perspective when you consider the whole package. The accommodation is comfortable and the outlook is stunning. You do need a car when staying here as it's a long walk to Tesco and even longer to Wick. The outside lights need to sorted and the wiring tidied but we had a great time and had everything we needed. Prices are very reasonable and criticisms minor. Worth visiting.
Pretty accomodation, beautiful location. Unforgettable midnight sunset sitting in peace...
In the morning time we saw a sea otter, seals and cows all around.
Perfect for family with children from 6 years old.
The owner's wife has been very kind during our staying.

We were up for a wedding at Dunnet Head, and this really offered everything we needed. Lots of space, well equipped, clean, and not to mention the view... Wick town centre was a 2 mile walk away and just a few mins in the car. The large Tesco is also just 1.5 miles away so we had the best of both worlds- feeling like we were in a nice secluded, peaceful spot but also not too far from all of the local amenities. Will definitely be back if we're on the area again!
