“The Clachan - excellent B&B. Highly recommended”
Reviewed 18 June 2013

I spent a night here back in April. A friend and I were planning to cycle from Land's end to john O'Groats for charity, so we decided I would drive to Wick and leave my car there, then fly back to manchester - so we had a vehicle near John O'Groats to bring our bikes back after the journey.
The room was great - comfortable bed and all mod cons. Breakfast was immaculate. Then I aksed Elspeth (Landlady) where would be safe to park the car - and she offered to watch over it for me for the month while I was away.

So we went off and did the ride - I called a couple of days before getting to John O'Groats to let them know I would be picking the car up soon...and Elspeth and her husband very kinly offered to deliver my car to John O'Groats to save us the last 17 miles of cycling, As it turned out this was a real godsend as the weather was atrocious!

So what a great B&B and hosts who bent over backwards to help me out and wouldn't take a penny for their extra time and effort.

If only all B&B's were like this!!

Completed a tour of North of Scotland, staying at both B & Bs and Hotel, the Clachan was the best accommodation we stayed in. Our Landlady Elspeth was most helpful and friendly. Accommodation is superb with standard of finishing of the highest order, borders on five star. Breakfast was very good with a wide ranging menu.
Nice touch from Elspeth on our departure with a novelty treat.

If you want a good evening meal the Bistro in the Mackay Hotel is recommended. Slightly more expensive than other venues, but good value for money.

We stayed here last year and because it was so good we decided to give it another try on our visit to Wick in May. It was still as good. The rooms, all on the ground floor, are very comfortably furnished and the beds are firm, as we like them. The bathrooms are modern with large showers that give you a good shower and are spotlessly clean. The owner, Elspeth, is friendly and helpful. There is a good choice for breakfast with fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals and the usual full cooked Scottish. If you are passing through Wick then you won't go wrong staying here. Make sure you book in advance as she only has 3 rooms.

Room Tip: We've stayed in rooms 1 and 2, both are very nice

This was my second trip to Wick with my son and we had the pleasure of staying at The Clachan for a second time. It really is not possible to fault. The room was spotlessly clean, and very well appointed. Bathroom, again, was superb and breakfast great too. Elspeth, the landlady offers a very warm welcome and is an excellent host. Excellent value considering what you get. Consistently good. I would highly recommend The Clachan.

Elspeth was the most caring host you could want. Our room was excellent The bed first class and her husband even went the extra mile for us. If you want a first class breakfast this is the place for you. I can't say enough good things about it

Staying here was a great experience and one we'll recommend to friends.
The room was in a private section of the house so no 'staying in someone's spare room' feel.
We had to leave for an early train and on explaining we'd have to miss breakfast were told that 'That's not a problem' and were served a leisurely very early ( and very good) breakfast, taken to the station and given cake to eat on the train journey......WOW!
