We stayed at the Old Police House for 4 nights from 1 March 2017 and it is stunning.
If you regularly rent holiday homes and cottages for holiday or weekend breaks I am sure that after a visit to the Old Police House, you will place it at the top of your list.
The house is beautiful and has been very and carefully modernised and tastefully decorated but without losing the character of this lovely detached building. Everything in the house is new and all of the furnishings and fittings are of a high standard.
The lounge is a lovely big family room that contains a wood burning stove and a lovely bay window. The décor throughout the house is lovely and this room is no exception.
The kitchen is lovely and has everything you need including a large farmhouse style kitchen table that can seat 6. It is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, as is the whole house.
The utility/wash room is situated at the back door and is a big room that is great for drying wet walking cloths and boots and for washing and drying off wet dogs. There is also a large wet room with toilet and a great shower just off the utility room.
Dogs are welcome at the Old Police House and when they were not with us we kept ours in the utility room while we were out. The utility room is big enough for the dogs but if you prefer there is a walk-in kennel in the garden.
While I am on the subject of dogs there are a lot of lovely walks nearby and the lovely large garden is fully enclosed and dog proof.
Staying downstairs there is a lovely family shower room with all new fixtures and fittings. It is immaculate.
The main bedroom is also downstairs and the very large bed is the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The décor is in keeping with the rest of the house and it is lovely and fresh.
Upstairs there are 2 identical twin rooms, beautifully decorated and presented and there is a lovely family bathroom with a 3rd shower. As we were just a party of 2 (& 2 small dogs) we did not use any of the upstairs facilities. Everything we needed (and more) was on the ground floor.
We loved this house and really appreciated the care and thought that has gone into making it a most welcoming and very comfortable holiday home.
The garden is large and beautifully laid out and it gets lots of sunshine and all the equipment is there for alfresco dining at the front and the rear of the house.
The house is owned by Susan and her family who stay next door. Susan provides a lovely welcome pack of essential provisions and she is on hand to help if you need her. She does not intrude but is there for any assistance or guidance you might require during your stay. She has gone to a lot of effort to provide a holiday home that is of a very high standard and she works hard to make sure everything is right for you.
I thoroughly recommend this house and would describe it as 5 star. Inverness is about 5 to 10 minutes away by car and there is a lot to do and see in the surrounding area.
We would love to return to the Old Police House for another holiday break and hope to be able to do so.
Just a note on directions when travelling north on the A9 you should turn off to the right where it is signposted Daviot East (B9154). If you follow that road for about half a mile you will come across the house very easily. Daviot West is where the lovely white church is situated but the Old Police House is on the other side of the A9 and you do get a lovely view of the church from the house.
Words will not fully do this property justice, you have to see it to fully appreciate it, everything you can imagine is provided, and it's all quality 1st class.
Not only that but dogs are allowed which is superb, and the facilities for them are second to none.
The accommodation is so spacious yet cosy, clean, no it's spotless, we didn't want to leave, we wanted to move in!!!
The views from the house are beautiful, we had frosty days so it was just like looking at a Christmas card when we woke up.
There is so much to do around and about, and as for Susan the owner, she goes above and beyond to make it a perfect stay.
We will definitely be going back, just deciding if we want to experience summer for a change or winter again.
I can't recommend this property enough.
