We made a special effort to visit Oakwood as the reviews on here and on the Oakwood website were so good.
The meal was good and we enjoyed it but it's not as amazing as the reviews on here made me think it was good. So we ended up leaving a little disappointed which is a shame cos it's not too bad at all really for a small restaurant.
The place itself is quite quaint with a room that's filled with little bits and pieces that you can buy and it had some 50's music which made it quite a nice atmosphere and a bit different to other places which I quite liked about it.
The service was a bit strange, we were served by the husband of the chef who came across as a bit offhand initially. At the end I think we thought he might have had just had an extremely dry sense of humour!
The food tasted really nice though, we had the lamb and the beef which were both lovely and served with a small tray of vegetables. The dessert was ok too. The restaurant has a BYOB policy too so bear that in mind if you want a drink whilst you're there, we went with a bottle of wine so were fine!
The price was quite reasonable for the area but the portions were quite small and we ended up needing some more food later!
To be honest I think if I'd found this place by chance I'd have been quite happy as the food did taste really good and it wasn't too expensive for the area. I'm not sure I'd have remembered it later but I wouldn't be too disappointed.
Give it a go, just don't read these reviews and think you'll be blown away.
