“live music n night club”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

best party place in Inverness. On Friday and Saturday on the 2nd floor you can dance till 2-3am which quite late for Inverness. Many other places already being closed. Very cosy and nice, especially the old lady that accompanies the live musicians playing the unknown to me instrument

“Live music, brilliant atmosphere.”
Reviewed 9 August 2013

We really enjoyed going to this place. The live music was excellent. Lots of friendly tourists - it didn't seem like many locals go here, but that wasn't a problem. No long queues at the bar. Toilets were clean.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed 3 July 2013

In Inverness for one night, Saturday. Decided to visit Hootananny based on previous reviews/awards. We arrived about 9.15. The band was just setting up. Initially we got in the front door alright and the area immediately surrounding the stage was fairly open and spacious. However we had to fight our way up to the bar area. It was six deep with everyone pushing and shoving to get to the front to get served. We gave up. We managed to fight our way back out and asked the doorman if there was entertainment and real ale upstairs. He said yes. We climbed up the filthy, sticky, smelly staircase. Half way up there is a small landing that was full of rubbish. We arrived in the upstairs lounge. Immediately the smell hit us. Stale urine. I don't know where it was coming from. There was a guitarist on but only about 4-5 people sitting. There was no real ale there. Again we about turned and left. We had really been looking forward to a night here. Maybe they had had a very busy day, I don't know, but we were not impressed.

“favorite pub in Inverness”
Reviewed 3 July 2013

Love to visit this pub every time i get to Inverness. They have gone back to all Scottish fare. Had the Haggis in pastry and Cullen Skink. I would recommend this pub. Music in the evenings. I was there in June of 2011 and had delicious Thai food. Never a disappointing time at Hootananny

“Quite a Hoot!”
Reviewed 27 May 2013

We were recommended Hootananny if we wanted a night of traditional Scottish music so, on our last night me, my mum and sister decided to have a drink there. The pub itself was very cosy and welcoming with lovely interior decoration not to mention a fun and cheerful environment! The staff were very friendly and had great speed in terms of serving customers. Sadly the music did not start til 9:30pm which was a bit disappointing having arrived almost two hours earlier however, although it wasn't "traditional Scottish music", it was very much the Hoot we wanted to end our trip on!
