Having had 50 years to plan it, all should have gone without a hitch and it did! This was in no small way due to the attention to detail of the management and the pleasant (& not pushy but well mannered staff). Table decoration, room layout, service in general & the way in which all our guests were made to feel welcome at the hotel (including our two younger grandchildren) have all been remarked upon by our friends & relatives. We hd attended functions here on other occasions but did not realise the amount of the input which the hotel actually made & thus found that any loose ends which we had felt that we might have had were already in hand & being dealt with by the hotel (plus quite a lot that we hadn't even thought about!!!).
While not a cheap place to have a celebration (for over 100 people) it was value for money & we have had many comments concerning the quality of the location for such an occasion from our guests - all good!

Room Tip: ask for a 4-poster!!

We stayed at the hotel as part of my birthday celebration. We booked one of the more expensive rooms. We were not very impressed with our room as we expected something that would have a bit more attention to detail. Also, upon arrival we were given a room that was already occupied and we had to go back and ask for a new room. The room was spacious and comfortable, but nothing special. Dinner in the restaurant was exquisite. The service was excellent, and if it was not for the restaurant, I would not have seen the point of staying at this hotel for a special occasion. Breakfast was very nice, and apart from not having hot water in the morning to take a shower, there were no other problems

We booked online a couple of weeks before we were due to stay. We phoned on the Wednesday (5 days before arrival) as we were away on a course before heading up to Inverness (Tues and Wed) and confirmed the room was booked. Great off we set. We arrived in Edinburgh (Mon), after having driven 600 miles, and went online, only to find an e-mail advising we had been overbooked and were no longer welcome! They had booked us into another hotel (Lochardil House Hotel). The sole reason of booking this hotel was it was directly opposite a farm I had grown up on and I wanted to revisit the old area after 42 years. We explained this to the staff, that this was the specific reason for our trip, and it tied in with our wedding anniversary, but they didn't care and were unable to help us, apart from give directions to new hotel (about 5-6 miles away). We notice that this will be the 5th review that people have been overbooked, in this day and age with all the computers mistakes like this shouldn't be happening. If you are travelling a long distance, or from overseas, and you don't want this sort of problem on your arrival in a strange town you should book somewhere else!!

Stayed here as we got a good deal on line for two nights mid July. Executive Room.
We were really made to feel very welcome and valued customers.
Attention was not too pushy, just right to take an interest and show they were keen to make their guests comfortable.
During the few days we were here we had afternoon tea, dinner in the restaurant and breakfast of course. All high quality ingredients and very well presented.
Couple of things we felt let the hotel down slightly were the restrictions placed on the room service menu and times e.g. we couldn't order a lighter bite to eat during the evening dinner times. Sometimes guests will not want a full three/four course meal: they lost out on our custom one of the evenings when we would have really liked a good sandwich and a bottle of wine while kicking our shoes off after a day of rigorous sight-seeing.

Also TV: needs to be fully updated with all freeview channels: for a Macdonald Hotel (refurbished) we were surprised at the old sets and restrictions on range of channels.
Every member of staff excelled themselves but the duty manger/head waitress was particularly excellent!

Enjoyed staying at this hotel, close to Inverness for visiting various attractions. Friendly welcome, room was an 'executive' and it really was lovely, very nicely decorated, huge bed -bigger than kingsize, dinner in evening was excellent as was breakfast. Would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a peaceful location but close to amenities.

Room Tip: Room was v. spacious, well furnished, huge bed so comfortable, great shower

We had spent a couple of days in packed Edinburgh with the Fringe Festival and all the related activies there.

When we arrived at the New Drumossie I was a bit disappointed that it was so far from the city center of Inverness (~ 8GBP taxi fare each way, or have your own car). However, it sooned dawned on me how nice it was to be in a quiet location with the beautiful surrounding outskirts of Inverness.

We were there on a weekend so there was a wedding each day. While there were crowds of revelers and receptions/after-parties that went on late (3AM one night) with the windows closed in my room this was not a problem. The wedding and reception areas are far removed from the actual rooms so unless the party winds up in a nearby room this should never present a problem.

There's a very large comfortable and quiet lounge area furnished with leather couches and chairs that provides a nice spot for a pint or to enjoy afternoon tea and snacks. This room is large enough that you can have your own space.

We did not eat any meals at the hotel though I'll note that they are consistent with other hotels in that the meals are very expensive.

The only thing that knocked this hotel down a notch is the rooms are somewhat cramped, especially if you are carrying large suitcases for a lengthy vacation. Really though this was somewhat common across our rooms in the UK, especially true of the cities. If some of escessive furniture were removed this might help.
